Re: WIP: GotG2 Baby Groot - for my 7yr daughter

Unfortunately, I don't have permission to post the pep file. I bought a low-poly model and then cut off the head and unfolded. From the printed pep, I made my foam templates.

So, while can't sell or post the pep file of this 3D file, I will gladly post my templates. I will just need to find time to transfer the physical templates to printer-friendly pdf files. :)

Hopefully it's something I can do in the next week.

Thanks for this offer mate and the reply. I have managed to pull something through with a bit of free hand and I will get some images up of what I have managed to get done soon, i have taken a real inspiration from your build and will be happy if it works out half as good!

Got a LOT done this last weekend!

Start off with the Head. Got a few coats of browns on it.

Then black-washed it. Eye is just for general placement - not officially mounted yet.

Then painted in the green mossy edge at the top.

Lastly I add some green texture by applying green scenery 'grass' used for model trains.

Next up was the suit! I started by finishing up the pant and sleeve cuffs. Then adding details, like the straps and buckles on the right arm and the lacing up the right side of the jumpsuit.

Also made the template for the zipper (and the several other detail pieces I'd make out of foam).

After scoring the zipper lines, I just hit the foam with the heat gun and the cuts separate smoothly. Full piece of foam is scored and the left side has been given the heat gun.

The pull-tab for the zipper had to be built and painted as well...

**Still need to do some work on the zipper itself... seems to flat.**

The lower left leg has an octagon patch with a little do-dad thingy on the side.

Also, the knee pad area needed to be done in foam.

The Ravenger badge... which I painted normally, then covered in brass rub-n-buff (then black-washed).

Also the breast metal clasp... thing.

Suit-up! Here is a look at where we are after the weekend!

I have an actual giant zipper that really works that you are more than welcome to have if you want it! From the year I made a 9 costume.

Great build so far!!!
