GL trailer on apple

Nice shot of the ring

Looks great. He's a cool Hal Jordan without quite so much broodiness as in recent comic book years.

I am psyched!

Maybe it's just me, but I saw Matt Munson as the Green Lantern. :lol

Also, the suit is.. interesting. It looks like a latex striated muscle suit, although I know they were trying to go for an organic alien look. I don't hate it, but.. just.. interesting.

I posted this in the GL costume thread but I wanted to share it here as well for discussion's sake:

I like the additions of the darker areas back into the suit from what we saw on Entertainment Weekly's cover.

This picture I took at the San Diego Comic Con earlier this year makes sense now....didn't know what it was til I saw the trailer. The screen cap from the trailer is on the right

I can say, I wasn't to happy with the dialogue regarding Hal and his fearlessness.

Wasn't part of the origin, Hal was picked partly because he had no fear?

the dialogue was off, ryan reynolds acting like every other character he portrayed already, and graphics were off....

thank God this is just the trailer, hopefully the movie does well

Hmm. Seems to be a bit more going on with the character than just "Green Van Wilder" but we'll see. The trailer didn't convince me Reynolds can pull it off, but it also didn't make me say "RUN. DO NOT SEE THIS FILM."

I liked that they're bringing Hector Hammond into the film, and apparently are setting up the Sinestro conflict.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills! That looked horrible to me... I was a huge comic book fan but only an infrequent GL reader growing up - is there something I'm missing that you guys are appreciating as GL fans?

Creaky dialogue and acting aside, I really wish they'd leave cartoons in cartoons. There's nothing wrong with the Incredibles; they even make those movies like Beowulf and Final Fantasy for people who want to watch something closer to photo-real. These green screen extravaganzas always come off like Roger Rabbit, with live actors on cartoon sets interacting with cartoons. And now cartoon wardrobes... sigh.

You have great hope for a film because you have a fondenss for a character - even if you really haven't followed that character's story and they do this. Just more typical slap it together comic book superhero movie.

Oa and the rest of the Green Lantern Corp looks like stuff left over from the CGI vault that made Avatar with just plain bad CG (besides Kilowog who looks decent). For the most part, the effects look terrible - there are exceptions - the green fist, the flight testing some of that look decent. But, overall it appears as if Warner just wants to put out a second rate Iron Man type flick.

And the costume. A CG costume probably sounded great on paper... and you might pull it off in some instances. But the computer graphic mask... Whisky Tango Foxtrot?

Maybe it will translate better on the big screen. They've got 6 months or so to make it look better... but, really all I'm seeing is bad CGI and a cliched superhero story.

I will pass judgement on it after I see it........I know novel idea right :lol

They are getting my money either way that is for sure.
