Give Em Hell CONAN !!!

He's keeping Andy Richter as his sidekick, which is good. I love the Mooks fell for the whole Conaw gag. The Blimp Promos are kickass too. I hope he kicks their asses.

He totally got shafted, no doubt.

Hollywood can feel completely free to shaft me like that if they're willing to give me a 45M go-away payday to boot! :)

Pardon me for being so naive (for someone who doesn't watch TV much) but what exactly transpired? Is this relating to NBC threatening Conan and him leaving last year?

Never really liked him so no big lost for me, I guess I'm old fashion I prefer Jay's more subtle humor.

The basic runaround is that NBC was unhappy with Conan's ratings in the Tonight Show, but NBC kinda sabotaged him in the first place by putting Leno in the prime time spot. Leno's ratings weren't great either, and the affiliates were complaining because it lowered their ratings for the local news.

So NBC wanted to move Leno back to 11:35, and push Conan to 12:35. He objected (his reasoning being that "The Tonight Show" should not air in the morning of the next day). So NBC bought out his contract, with the condition that he could not be on TV for so many months, and put Leno back at the Tonight Show.

Not so much prime spot but prime time and lead in spot.

I might also add that in the book "The Late Shift" by Bill Carter (about the battle for the tonight show spot between Letterman & Leno)
Carter writes about Leno hiding in closets listening to NBC executives conference calls that would determine weather he keeps his job and his manager planting stories in the New York Post that help nudge Carson out among other things. It's been a while but it's a good read....He's a snake.
