Ghoul Hunter Body Armor: Design-N-Build

def a fan of the spine, im not sure if i can tell what the struts look like. is it more of a tech look?

the new back armour looks pretty good mike.
sheaths are looking killer!

I really like the spine look for your backpack armor, I don't know why but I just do. Great job on the sword sheath. Is your concept still going to use two swords.

Yeah it will be double swords. Just too lazy to render the images LOL

Thanks Daman. I had to re do the designs.
I got new ideas for armor and I want to do a Falconer armor suit but not exactly like the movie.
More like Falconer before the movie when he was younger and hunting alone.
This backpack will be basically for that.

WooHooo......custom Falconer armor!!!

any updates on this Mike?

I will crack open the sword mold tomorrow. It may be ruined or it may be ok. Keep praying.

I had to resculpt the handle a second time cuz the first molds were ruined due the clay preventing the silicone from curing properly.
All the surface details were lost. The second handle looks much better and I airbrushed a coat of wood sealer on it. so hope that ok also.

We see....

OK The mold came out ok. - Phew! Wasted 1 side of the mold which I had to redo. But finally got it right!

Cast 2 swords - 1st one is a mold cleaner which I had to seal and do the slush method - work on my arm muscles!
2nd Casting I fiberglass 2 halves open to build up wall thickness then seal and slush. Took like an hour to do each sword. Not to mention the slow curing time of resin during winter.....

Alien Tail Swords Assembled today.
Finished trimming them and demolded the handle which I remolded 4 times. Finally got it right and perfected the casting with in laid fiberglass on the inside shells.
The handle attaches via pvc pipe resin stuck the handle part and PU foamed in the Sword Tail part. After its hard it holds up pretty well and not too heavy.
The sword actually has a decent weight/balance that I can swing around right here in this video:

See me swinging these Bad Boyz

Nice work Mike!

Are you working on the back pack as well?

Yes I am, got another commission to finish up this week then I'll be free for like 2 minutes.

Those came out awsome! o_O

The mothermold keys you made are monsters too. What silicone did you use?

No name for the silicone but its a 10:1 ratio to catalyst liquid type. Not sure if its platinum or tin.
Its mad expensive about $60 for 5 kilos. Every time I f-ed the molding my wallet gets thinner and my heart goes out the window.

I went over budget for this one, wasted a lot of silicone for molding the handles and 1 side of the mold for the sword. But it was worth it
seeing the results.

Gonna put these up for sale sometime this century.

OK finally got a start on the backpack and sword sheath

Looking for bendy straws that I can add to the bones and stuff.
You may think its easy to just add pre-made parts to a sculpt but actually its more work. The reason is the parts though u think u don't have to sculpt it, the arrangement of the part have to work with the design otherwise it may be random garbage. So its one of the reasons this is taking up more time to make it work. Still gots a long ways to go on this!

For the backpack (sorry to keep you guys waiting like a year for this) I've used a clay which was way too soft luckily I blocked out the outline which was easier than the new Harder clay that I
plan on using. So I devised a method to use plaster bandages by first vaseline the plaster form, edges of the soft clay then building a wall with the bandages. It formed a temp mold which later
I dug out the soft clay, then melted the hard clay and poured into it. After the hard clay becomes solid and cool to touch I removed the plaster bandages and started racking the surface until its
refined. Here's the process:

awesome! that sheath looks killer!

hey mike how wide and tall is the back pack? will you be able to make it so it can be trimmed down for smaller guys? like, just make some lines that would allow for a cut down without interrupting the design? if not no worries. very anxiously waiting to see more!
