GhostMinion's Fallout 3d Models and Props

Saw this earlier today and figured fallout fans would like them. In November looks like some Fallout action figures are going to be released:

Yeah, they do look cool. Think I'll pass, though.

Got a little more weathering done on the first Ballistic Fist replica. Did a light blackwashing, still needs some rusting. Sorry, but it looks like the pictures are posting upside down for some reason. You should still get the idea. ;)

What do you guys think?

Looks really good. Got my M2 in tuesday so I've been working on getting it calibrated. First test print was pretty good, but then the next didn't come out very well at all. For some reason it likes squares but not circles.

Well, got me a mini nuke. Man, it's big. Looks to be a little larger than 1:1 scale, but it does look good. For the price, I'm really impressed with the paint job. Not so impressed by the bomb sound, though.

.........Wow, thats an awesome collection........

Thanks. :thumbsup Need to make it more awesome, though. ;)

The sound not being good is disappointing to say the least.

Eh, I'm not too disappointed. Didn't get it for the sound, anyways. Really just for looks. And I will say, I think it looks good. Big............but good. I'll probably make a more accurate one someday with lilykill's nuke model, but for now, it pleases me.

The mini nuke is supposed to be the same size or similar in size to a football right? I measured mine and its pretty close.

Something around there. I forget the measurements, but I scaled the original game model next to my Pulse Mine model, and the Anthology Nuke is a good bit bigger.

That's an awfully big foot ball. It's pretty cool, but I was expecting something somewhat smaller.

Yeah, I was expecting something a little smaller, too. I've actually begun making a model for the nuke using the game mesh. The Anthology Nuke is not only bigger, the overall dimensions are off as well. It's fatter, and the ends are rounder than in the game.

Still, for what it cost, not a bad piece to leave on the shelf.

Not sure. Don't know if they had different meshes for the GRA Mini Nukes.

Think I'll look into that tonight. :) I love using the Tiny Tots Nukes. Point them in the air for a good flight, and they come screaming down.

I have no idea either, I just thought that could explain this one being larger. :lol

Adding some rust effects to my Ballistic Fist. Almost finished with my first one, need to get the glove, a couple more screws and the wires. Anyhow, what do you guys think?

After that one is complete, I have two more kits to finish up for my collection. The next one I do will look less worn and not so old and rusty. I want it to look weathered, but just a little.

I agree with Dao2, the rusting looks awesome. Whats your process for it?, I really like the lighter blotches in the rusted parts looks really good.

The rusting looks great on that piece. I have to agree with lilykill and ask what your process was to get that effect. If I didn't know I would guess it really was some rusted up metal.

wow awesome looking rust effects

Thanks guys! Glad you guys like it, I'm pretty happy with it myself.

To get the rust effect, I used this stuff:

rusting kit.jpg

You basically paint on the Iron Metallic Surfacer. Let it sit overnight, then you apply the rusting solution on the areas you applied the Iron paint. It then starts to rust up the iron, leaving a very light and bright orange rust. Now keep in mind, that's how the directions say to do it, but you need to take it a step further. After letting the rusting solution do it's thing, I then leave the parts outside to get wet. Either a rain, or even just leaving it outside overnight to get covered in dew. The getting it wet will cause it to rust even further, and more aggressively. The light orange will be replaced with an older looking dark red rust. This also increases the texture, giving a more aggressive and porous look. The lighter orange spots are where there was literally small beads of water from the dew just sitting there rusting away.

So basically, it is rusted metal. The funny thing I found doing this on a test piece of scrap was that leaving the Iron Surfacer untreated with the rusting solution, and then leaving it outside to get wet, it did not rust. The Surfacer has to be treated to start the rusting process.

But overall, the stuff is real easy to use, and cleans up well with just warm water. Shaping the rust areas was a matter of careful paint brush work, sort of jabbing in some of the areas to make it look more authentic.

So, I also have been meaning to post some pics of this little guy. This is lilykill's Frag Grenade model that I've printed up and smoothed out. I'm waiting until I can get some silicone to make a mold for it, I'm looking forward to cold casting me a bunch of them. Gonna cold cast the end pieces in brass powder, and the other parts in aluminum powder. Then I'll be able to paint with OD green and yellow matte paints and scratch them up naturally. I think they're gonna look really good once finished. :)

Big thanks to lilykill for this one. This model was designed beautifully simple and effective. Assembly for this thing is just too easy. A fun one to do for sure. :thumbsup

Thanks @zapwizard, and yeah I highly recommend this stuff for your rusting needs. It's real easy to work with.

So, got a nice little present from the postman today. Today the stands that TCSloan custom made for the Ballistic Fist arrived! Man, these things look SWEET. It even looks cool without a hand in the gauntlet, although I am going to attach a dummy hand in it to put the trigger assembly on.

I bought two so that I would already have one for my Two Step Goodbye variant when I eventually finish it. I really like how these turned out. TCSloan's work is AWESOME.
