I've been working on a new trap style over on Proptopia, and thanks to a few good folk (Cyland props especially. Thanks Brent...)) providing buckets of reference while AJ finishes up the new GBprops.com website, I was able to use some old parts taken from GBproject's plans and punch out a smoker trap real fast.
First pull was fairly successful. I was trying three types of resin to do the slush, and settled on my old standby. The rear of the trap is solid resin, so that the handle and quick-connect can be securely attached. Then the forward body is light rigid foam, witha "smoking box" in the front. I lit a newspaper to test the holes , and it went pretty well. Once I get the plate on the bottom, I can toss a smokebomb in there and have some fun...
The current thread on Proptopia( http://www.proptopia.com/viewtopic.php?t=3533 ) is a really cool analysis of the different trap models. Check it out.
This weekend, I get to make a flexible foam one for cons. Nice and light.
