Ghost Busters Proton Pack Build

Hello thank you for your feed back. First as to these packs being for sale, they are not for sale. llike I said this pack is not 100% and some parts were purchased for it including the cyclotron piece. please keep in mind these are not for sale and neither is the wand. This thread will just be updated with how the pack is being put together and the proton wand and other things I will be getting for the suit and greeblies.

Cool, As a fellow Gb'r, I can say building the packs has been a really fun past project, I have built four of my own as well modified others. Going out in costume to events is always a blast with them.

As an active Gb'r, I can also say that the Gb prop community is extremely tight, sometimes fractured and cliquish. When it comes to selling shells and such, they are the strictest self policing community in sourcing and ethics for selling on the net anywhere. So I want to give you a heads up to avoid such issues.

They look nice, with the amount made, looks like you can form your own Ghostbusting group to do the rounds. I have found the costume to be universally recognized by the public and the reaction to such extremely positive. Hope you have quite a bit of fun trooping with them.

I kind of wish you had stayed with your original cyclotron (Not only for the reasons stated above) but I feel that your original seemed to "fit" with the overall pack better. I think the one you purchased seems to stick out more since it is more accurate. Plus, it would have given you the freedom to sell your shells if you had wanted too. (I know, you have stated that you do not plan to sell these shells and you REALLY should not. Getting branded a recaster is not something you want in this community.) Maybe if you do a v2 you can add your own cyclotron. You should also look at the space between your gun mount and your crankcase and also the width of your PPD looks a tad thin.

jmho

How did you get such smooth cuts on the foam pieces? When I cut my foam (generally with a Xacto knife), the edges are always rough and sanding does little to help.

Hey there.
I have to agree with you that building the pack have been super fun and I still can't believe all the different web sites out there to help out. I will also not be selling anything due to the parts I have used. Also having pack to go out with my friends to events will be fun and I can't wait for that.

Thank you for your post and kneen eye. yes it would have looked closer to what I built but I made the choise. I am happy with it but I do hear what you are saying :). As for a V2 pack now that I have this experience under my belt for making this one I wanting to make another pack as some other things too. I would love to make a game proton pack slime blower and all. Also please be assured I will not be selling these packs. After I was told about the recasting and my error nothing will be sold.

Well I didn't exactly use foam I use foam board. You can get it a hobby stores or Michaels. What I did next was trace the oput line of what I needed on to the board cut it out with a xacto. The part I needed to bend make a cut behind the foam board making sure not to cut through ( you ownly want to cut half way though ) then the part should bend right on and glue. Nice part about the foam board is you get a lot of it so you can do some trial and error.

wow been awhile since I seen any action on this thread, glad to see you have continued with your build

Hey its good to hear from you again thank you for interest still in my build thread. I am still watching your build on your iron man suit. Amazing work I hope to be at your level of prop building someday :)

I would love to see a V2 of what you could come up with. The game pack would be cool as you don't see to many of them around here and nothing in the JY that I have seen anyway. May be a hot item! ;)

Ya I would love to do a V2 game pack. I have some screen shots from the game and have looked at what some other ppl have done from google pictures. But everyone seems to have allot of different ideas for the games pack and the screen shots aren't too clear. Guess I will have to play the game again and get my own screen shots. ( such a hardship to play the games again lol ;).)

This is top on my list of props that I would love to own. Been starting on a few smaller projects (pep iron man and the like) to get some experience before jumping into a full proton pack build. You have certainly given me inspiration!

Awesome thank you for your post. Building a proton pack there are a few way you can go at it my self I used parts you can find at home depot and wood plus other things I had to look around for. But you can also pep them. Check out Jeebee25 he has a pep pack and it looks amazing. ( my hat is off to him for a awesome pep build. ) Also with building a pack there is tons of site out there to help you along with specs from the first and second ghostbusters and how the packs differ.

I made my own mother board because I wasn't sure if the aluminum one you can purchase online would fit properly. So I made one from MDF. After placing everything on the mother board I made it is strong enough to hole the pack and pack frame. I am very pleased with the out come from MDF.

The hook were place on for a little for stubilitly. They also can be moved up or down if adjustments need to be made.

After painting it back I thought it really started to stand out as a motherboard.

These are just top view once I place the mother board on to the pack with the pack fame on it as well.

Now everything has been disassembled again lol because I am adding on some more greeblies and makeing a slight modifcation to the pack. Then I will be completing the wand and starting with the lights and sounds.

I also got a matty collector PKE meter and ghost trap. I will be posting some pictures of those as well very soon.
