They said it wasn't a toy. I disagree. Hi I would like to post my proton pack build progress. Iam planning on building the main shell and molding it.
Here is my progress so far.
I started off with the plans off GBfans.com and decided to build it out of MDF and other things I could find to creat the shapes I needed.

In this pic I know the ion arm is on backwards and was a little peeved at my self for making this mistake lol.

Primer coat to see and correct all the imperfections

Just a little spot filler lol

Cyclotron trim pieces added

Next I still have to add the smaller trim pieces on the pack. Another coat of primer and the shell should be ready to mold.
The remaining parts of the pack will be added in to the molded shells. ( You know all the hoses, wires, fittings, electronics, and bits and bobs.)

Thanks everyone. Yes would be very heavy. As of right now it weighs about 65 LBS lol, but the copies should not be that heavy as they will be made of a high density plastic. I am working on the trim pieces and trust me it is trial and error, but have finally found the perfect thing for it. I will be posting more pics as the pack comes together. Also thank you everyone for your comments so far I look forward to seeing more

After some trial and error with the trim parts. I had gone from wood trim pieces in which didn't work very well, to a foam board. The foam board was easy to cut and manipulate to the proton pack.

I am very happy with how the trim came out and will be using the foam board for other projects to come.

The last coat of primer filler. The trim came out great. With some spot filler allot of the parts look like rough welds. The proton pack in the movies weren't smooth at all lol so I am trying for the same thing.

So this is the last step now before I start the molding process.

I am very excited to start the molding now most shells that are done don't have the N filter or the ion rod incorporated in to the pack shell, because it make for more of a time consuming mold.

It's looking good so far. I was tempted to do something like this myself since I am getting ready for a pack build. However, I think it would be easier just to buy a cast since mine probably wouldn't turn out as good. One question though... How did you replicate the pie plate/cyclotron and include the cylinder? Did you make that out of wood and how did you go about doing it?

The cyclotron was giving me trouble so I started to find differnet sizes of cake pans. pie plates were alittle to small and thin, but cake pans really did the trick. As for the cylinders hit up your local hardware store there are so many different things you can use its not even funny. I used large washers on mine as they fit the best. I also have started a interest thread if you were interested in getting one.

Happy that you guys are out there to help me out with my build. I almost made a pritty big error with missing the 5th strip on the power cell. How ever I am making the repairs now and its looking good. New pics will be up soon. Thanks again guys
