Ghost Busters Proton Pack Build

nice work! I will be keeping my eye on this thread! I remember having the little proton pack when I was a kid :)

Hey everyone sorry that it has been a while since I have made a post. But I have some new pics of the pack for everyone. Made some little changes and I hope you like them.

So some of the changes are I put a fifth strip on the power cell, and I re-moved the ion arm for molding. I put the 2 PPD's on the pack and the spacer for the bumper guard on the cyclotron. I had also added the 2 block pieces at the bottom of the pack.

I hope everyone likes it. Also I have an interest threat going in the junkyard now. Iam going to start molding it

Hello everyone sorry it has been awhile since my last post. I have been changing some things up on my pack.

SAM_0203.jpg

So as you can see the ion arm and N-filter are off it I will be molding them seperately to save cost in mold supplys. And the trim parts going around the cyclotron have been changed as well.

I also fixed the over hang where the PPD's are.

Well I hope everyone likes the changes.

Hey everyone I know it has been a while since I have made any posts. But here is what I was up to.

These were the final changes. next making the molds first step silicon :)

IMG_0053.jpg

IMG_0054.jpg

I used a silicon dye so I could tell that I was making even coats.

IMG_0063.jpg

IMG_0073.jpg

Also had to make sure that the silicon is nice and thick. Due to when removing the copy no parts could tear.

Now on to the fiberglass shell.

IMG_0075.jpg

IMG_0077.jpg

Then wait 24 hours (ding) and presto lol.

IMG_0083.jpg

IMG_0084.jpg

IMG_0086.jpg

not going to lie working with the silicon was fun lol.
But one to the making of the first copy. For this I used Smooth cast 320 and Ure-fil 3 and renforced the pack with fiberglass

IMG_0157.jpg

IMG_0158.jpg

What the Ure-fil 3 did was make the smooth cast 320 thicker so I could basicly paint it on with out having it run.

IMG_0166.jpg

Then the fibergalss.

IMG_0167.jpg

IMG_0168.jpg

After all is said and done my first unlicensed nuclear accelerator lol.

IMG_0154.jpg

Popping the fist copy was unbelievably hard to do. Took my self and a friend to pull it. A awesome tip is coat the fiberglass shell with vaseline it makes a difference trust me.

IMG_0172.jpg

Then I started making some copys

IMG_0177.jpg

and another

IMG_0183.jpg

and another lol

IMG_0209-1.jpg

I got five out of all the stuff I got for the copys and..... All have N-filters

IMG_0203-1.jpg

IMG_0202-1.jpg

IMG_0201-1.jpg

So all the copys have N-Filters

IMG_0207-1.jpg

This is the look it will have with the N-Filter on it. Also this is the stage I am at currently.

Unfortunately, I don't believe you'll be allowed to sell those shells.

That Cyclotron piece looks a lot like one of JT-94's... I have one that looks very similar on my current Proton Pack (although, I think a few other sellers sold similar ones since JT started selling his), unfortunately as you've used a Cyclotron cover made by another member, rather than producing a copy of the one you'd originally built yourself... you've actually ended up creating a recast of another builder's piece without their consent.

Nice shell!
But what I don't like are the plates around the cylotrone. They're way to round for my taste.
But the rest looks really great!

Sorry everyone for some reason my picture didn't come through I'll give it another try

Well again it has been some time since I last updated my thread but I have some new pictures of my pack to show.

As well major differences from the build to the final product which brings Kingpins concerns into issue, which have not been addressed.

Aside from the missing images in the last few posts, it appears as if he has constructed everything from scratch, take a look at the first few pics. So I don't think that he'd have a problem selling them. They don't appear to be recasts of anything he didn't build himself.

Take a close look, the constructed pieces posted at the beginning do not match the final cast pieces.

Old timers had a name for those that want to look past a possible recaster because they want to buy a replica, propwh*r*. As a community, we tend to protect the works of others here as it takes quite a bit or work and investment in such pieces and it is not just when someone cast another persons work and sells it as their own. Seems as we are getting an influx of newer members here, such basic etiquette is not of a concern as it should be. When an issue is brought up, it IS important to address it before it blows up into a train wreck. The staff here also tends to police such if it is brought up to them, something members tend to first try to address themselves when possible.

Hey thank you for you " constructive criticism" However I have really enjoyed building my pack up until this point and will continue to enjoy making the rest.

As to the my packs passed you can view it plan as day on the first page. The pack was made from scratch however the parts I am placing on them like I said as well were purchased from other websites like gbfan. I am also full aware the pack isn't 100% as I have also said before but I am still very proud of my pack.
So I would like to say thank you to everyone who help me along the way with there thoughts and tip to this point there will be more pictures coming. I will also be doing some more modifications to the pack.

As a prop builder that was immersed in Ghostbusters Props for a long time (and scratch built my own stuff, including a PKE meter) I will give you credit for the work you've done, inaccuracies aside, and say congrats on a build you are satisfied with.

However... It is painfully obvious that going from the pic of the pack all primered up to the one below it of the pack with the silicone poured all over it that the cyclotron is completely different. That and it doesn't fall in line with the skill level evidenced in the rest of the build. There is little finess in the over all build. That cyclotron has mucho finess. It is customary to give credit to people who make parts for your builds. For one it is acknowledgement to other members of the community who work hard to provide parts and, also, it's the respectful thing to do. You'll have more respect for the work you've done as well. But if it's an instance of doing 85% of the work and slapping on bought parts to complete it and then calling it your work is looked down on and will lower your respect level. This could affect potential sales as many members of the board look harshly at recasters.

So if that cyclotron is from someone else, it's best to be up front. If you plan to sell pack shells, contact the person who sold you the cyclotron (or any other parts, that bumper looks purchased to me. I know how bloody hard the bumper is to make and look right, yours doesn't fit the skill level of the rest of the pack) and let them know your plans, ask permission to use their parts. If they say yes, you're good to go, if they say no, you can either dump the project or scratch build the parts yourself. This can avoid a lot of trouble down the road. It's all about due credit and respect in these waters.

So I will bite, will the proton packs you plan to sell come with throwers? If they do, you will have to scratch one up yourself. TC won't like his being recasted.

Hello thank you for your feed back. First as to these packs being for sale, they are not for sale. llike I said this pack is not 100% and some parts were purchased for it including the cyclotron piece. please keep in mind these are not for sale and neither is the wand. This thread will just be updated with how the pack is being put together and the proton wand and other things I will be getting for the suit and greeblies.
