Gerry Anderson - UFO TV Series - Shado Pistol replica build

From a few years back. :love

Been trying since 1969 to build this pistol. 1970 ... 1971 ... 1980 ... 2005 ... 2009 ... 2010 ... 2011

The pistol is an Edison Cap gun - with a modified flash hider - made of plexiglass. It was made around 1981. I sold that one - but the Edison pistol is available to day by various toy collectors.

OK - UFO pistol grip Upgrade acurizing.

What do you think? :confused

It is also an example of how a resin kit can be upgraded depending on the skill of the builder. If you want more detail - simply add it.

THANKS :love

Gordon

[/B]HERE is last communication after he got my kit.

Dear coffee357, ( Harada357 @ RPF) ( Gordon Carew)

Sorry for the delay in responding, I was just waiting for someone to make my point.
I had considered "half-assing" one of my own by taking the grips off a P-38, replacing them with Colt 1911 grips, then hit the hardware store to make a barrel shroud and BAM!

As you can see there's been a bid; there IS interest, but not at the price you normally ask.
For an item like this $35+$10 shipping is the norm. Customers don't care about your start-up or production costs, they're not interested in how hard they are to make, they just want to pay as little as possible.
I learned from the top-selling Avon rep on the East Coast to "Make it up in volume."
Once I fix your casting screw ups, I'm tempted to recoup my money by making cheap copies.
I don't suppose you'd consider a $20 refund?

Item: Gerry Anderson Type UFO SHADO Pistol replica prop gun
Item # 180696335040

I sold several UFO pistol replicas to RPF members with no problems and every transaction was pleasant. I went outside to sell one on Ebay – and the nightmares began.
First the buyer got it at the starting lowest bid.
Then he complained about the price.
Then he Trolled my current listing.
- Now he says he is going to steal my model and wants an additional $ 20.00 back. He says he does not care what it costs me and he is just going to steal it to make money on my design and idea. He intendeds’ selling re-casts of my gun to destroy any further market.
- AFTER he bid, bought and paid for the prop – I shipped. Then he complained about the price before he ever got it. I offered a full refund.
- Now I want him to return the item – because I don’t want his money. I do not want him to recast my hard work. He is a Theif, a cheat, but at least he admits to what he intends to do.
AND he will likely give me bad feedback on Ebay – because I want him to return my kit and I will refund his full price by paypal. I don’t want the THEIF to have it.

Dear masterjedibear, (Ebay Member Name)
Hello Mr. Doritty,
USPS TRACKING NUMBER: 0310 2640 0001 9509 3726 indicates that Your item was delivered at 11:14 am on July 23, 2011 in LATROBE, PA 15650.
Ebay Item number: 180696335040
Gerry Anderson Type UFO SHADO Pistol replica prop gun
Item number: 180696335040
I hope you are really happy with your item and want to keep it. If you are not % 100 satisfied with the total cost of the item, the item quality, or you just want your money back. Just tell me. I will cheerfully take the kit back. I actually regret letting the pistol go for the lowest possible and only bid - because now I will have to wait months to raise the selling price back to $ 125.00 plus shipping. I hoped you would be over joyed winning the auction at the first minimum bid. The total cost of $ 72.00 was way below my initial hope for selling the prop at the full $ 125.00. I just need to know when to expect it back. The money is remaining on hold at PAYPAL until I find out if you are satisfied. EBAY charged me $ 15.00 just for selling the item in auction selling fess. To place the add it was five dollars. That is another $ 20.00 off the "profit" of selling at $ 72.00. Then there is the actual shipping cost on top of that - that averages $ 10- $12 - so selling the gun at $ 72.00 I only get $ 42 - $ 45 dollars for the kit. It costs about $ 25.00 in resin for that kit. So in the end - I make about $ 20 back for selling a kit. The MOLD RTV costs $ 180.00. It took six months to make the master prototype.
It is not worth 'ripping people off' and I did not do it for Profit. I made the kit as a UFO fan. I was hoping you would love me work.
PLEASE answer my email.
I hope you like it and want to keep it. If not, please ship it back to me as soon as possible and I will issue you a refund for the purchase price through paypal.
You may ship it back to my USPS at the following address: (You must use a tracking number and please respond to Ebay emails and let them know the transaction has been canceled. That way I get my $ 15 back from the transaction fee.)
THANK you, I am sorry that somehow we got communications fouled up.

Dear coffee357,
Make sure you notify me when you ship and since you charge almost double what most people ask for shipping, I'm sure you will include a tracking number.

What a complete jerkwad. He is angry he paid $72? Also where does he get the idea you're selling one for $25 when your current listing clearly shows the reserve price as not met? Does he not understand how auctions work? One item might go for $400 when the next one only gets $250.

Any attempt to sell a knock off kit by him on Ebay should be met by you complaining to Ebay. Any attempt to sell one here should be met by you warning buyers in the junkyard and telling the RPF.

RESPONSE: Gordon on the RPF

I put one on Ebay just to see how it would do. I was trying to finance building the rifles and buying more plastic - it would come near to covering the production cost. The bidding stayed low - and Trolls hit me on UFO discussion forums. This guy got one for far less than I was asking, but wanted to make good on my AD with EBAY - my loss. :confused

Then this guy tells me he is going to steal from me unless I give him another twenty dollars. He could still recast it. I just want it back. :cry

He won't answer emails. :angry:angry:angry:angry

He will likely give negative feedback - the only negative I have EVER had. A theif can screw you over. In his response - he sells AVON products. I just want to get my prop back. Too much went into it. No kindness goes unpunished. :angry

My very first prop build gets stolen in the first run !!! :eek:cry

I know you're a good guy Gordon and just wanted to make something that a few fans might be interested in too. I don't think this %^$&# is really that much of a UFO fan and maybe always had the intention of copying your prop. He just didn't want to have to do the hard part himself.

I am not loosing sleep over this one bad ebay encounter. My skills are improving - I will try to keep the runs on the RPF Junkyard.

No sweat - just frustrating. :sick

Time to move on. :love

I keep imagining his pistol all painted up in Avon colors!
Sorry your 1st eBay casting sale was such a bummer, but I doubt you'll see recasts from this moron, sounds like threats to get a discount! And I think you've got the UFO gun market pretty well filled at this point. I certainly won't be adding to my collection unless it comes thru you!
Keep up the great work Gordon, and ignore this peon.
Cheers, Jeff

Thanks for the support Jeff!

( HEY Jeff - you never answered me - did you get the new flash hider out of the mailing box with the 2nd pistol shipment? :confused I want to make sure you know the molded one is intended to be cut off and replaced! :eek with the new one.)

He won't answer my emails. I just wanted to get it back - he can have his money - I don't want it.

I really made the pistol for UFO fans - not big ebay sales. I just was trying to raise enough money to finish out building them and casting them. I would give them away to people who appreciated it. I just want everyone happy. I am fine tuning the pistol then moving on to the rifles. I can't wait. I bought all the materials. I got some good references for the rifles. SEE ATTACHED.

I have also thrown in a STARBLAZERS movie pistol project - just because I have been working UFO for six months. I loved the movie and I have to do the pistol now I know how. :love

Hey Gordo, I'd sent a reply, but the cyber Nazis must of snagged it!:confused
YES, all pieces found and awaiting my serious attention!
Thanks again for all your time, sweat, and agravation! And for putting out a great looking kit!
I'll post pics when I finally tackle them!
Cheers, Jeff

Just a thought, That rifle stock reminds me of the old crossbow stocks from the 70's! Take a look there before you do a total scratchbuild.

Just reading through the end of this thread makes me so angry... I know there are people in the world like that guy, but it doesn't make it any easier.

I too am a fan of all the old Anderson shows... UFO being my favorite.

Thanks for the support. But over all, the UFO Pistol build project was a great experience. I did get enough people to make it worthwhile. I was trying to raise enough money to make other prop projects and offer UFO Pistols and Rifles to those who were interested. I wish I was rich and could just give them to fans who loved the show, but I draw upon the family budget for my prop endeavors. Someday, it might take a life of its own. But more UFO props will be built. I may not be able to make them kits - but they will be in the forefront of my Anderson Collection.

I have found many new friends on the RPF. Everyone seemed willing to offer advice and help with the problems. My skills have improved so I can make the UFO props no one else ever offered over the years.

The Ebay experience makes me angry, but the RPF and prop building turned out to be personally rewarding. Everyone but one guy was happy with what they got - a UFO pistol from an obscure (1970's tv series) forty years later.

More pics are coming. There will be final pics of the final version of the pistol.

Then the UFO Rifle Build Thread. :love

PISTOL Version 3 - update

Pics attached.

What do you think? :confused

Comments please: THANK you guys !! :angel :confused:cry:love:angry:angry:lol:cool
