■The fan novella The Doctor and the Enterprise by Jean Airey, initially was published privately as a stand-alone fanzine and then in a professional edition in 1989 by Pioneer Books. Many other amateur fan fiction crossovers between the two universes have been written over the years, though Airey's book remains (as of 2009) the only one to be published professionally, if unofficially.

Garrick Hagon, who Star Wars fans will remember as Luke Skywalker’s rebel inspiration Biggs, will appear in Season 7 of Doctor Who. He’s actually an old hand at TARDIS-wrangling, having appeared as a character called Ky in the Third Doctor adventure The Mutants in 1972.

Here's a question for all of you who keep up with this stuff. Why don't more writers from classic Who write for the new series? I would assume that people like Aaronovitch, Cartmel and Cornell would come up with great scripts.

Eh, I'm not too worried. It would be nice to break up the 20somethings In Time a bit, but it is what it is. They could make her a regeneration of Romana or from another planet or another century on Earth. Who knows. I have faith. Way too early (for me) to judge.

Here's some of her work

Moffat: "Who she's playing, how the Doctor meets her, and even where he finds her, are all part of one of the biggest mysteries the Time Lord ever encounters. Even by the Doctor's standards, this isn't your usual boy meets girl."

Who knows? They sure are building up hype for DW50!

Wouldn't it be nice if it turns out she's Susan's granddaughter and didn't "show up on the Timelord Radar" until she either meets the Doctor who wakes up her heritage (by accident, of course) or she regenerates and gains all the other Timelordy...Timelordiness?

Meh.

Anyone else remember when the Doctor's companions weren't the center of the universe, in the case of Amy's legs, or the most important woman in the universe, in the case of Donna, or were someone the Doctor would break fundamental laws of Gallifrey for, in the case of Rose?

I miss having just a regular person as a companion. That was the appeal of the companions, they were just regular folks the Doctor ended up picking up and going on a whirlwind of adventures, seeing things no one else could ever possibly see.

It's safe to say most people (except us getting on in years) don't remember that. :)

I just finished the Martha season again and you know what, she was alright. I couldn't stand her the first time around.

I liked Martha for the fact of what Kerr just brought up. She was the most 'regular girl' of any of the new series companions. What I hated most about her character was RTD deciding that she need to be in Rose's shadow and 'in love' with the Doctor! (I still don't get why Rose was supposed to be so all-encompasing, she was fun for a year and half, but by the time she left, I was done with her)

Yeah, I haven't watched "The Shakespeare Code" after the first time because they immediately made her start falling for the Doctor in that one. She backed off after that, but still, it was just annoying.

as long as she isn't from Earth (london) 2012 I don't mind, we need a bit of a change from the modern era companions I think.

I'm withholding judgment on her. I jumped the gun on Matt, saying "Oh great, some hipster emo Doctor..." based purely on the promo photos, and now I think he's terrific.

I wouldn't mind having some regular companions again, though, and preferably a not-completely-useless male figure or one who's not at least only given one or two episodes to act useful and the rest of the time to be the butt of a lot of jokes.
