Game of Thrones

Spoilers about a scene I desperately want to see:

Actor Clive Russell, who played Catelyn Stark’s uncle, Brynden Tully aka the Blackfish, was spotted on set filming a siege of the Tully seat Riverrun, holding off Lannister soldiers. Naturally, as the plotline focuses tightly on Jamie, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau was also seen filming—but unliking the events seen in the books, he was joined by Jerome Flynn as Bronn, suggesting a similar set up to the two characters’ plotline in Dorne in the most recent season.

One of the best speeches in the series of novels is in that scene, and I had figured they had cut it out. It looks like I may be wrong. I certainly hope so.

Finally a definitive premier date.

It's only 3 months, but that's still such a long wait!

It's was officially confirmed last month by Martin that Winds of Winter will not be out before the new season.

So I wonder if this season they are going to stall a bit, or just push forward. It almost seems like they might try to slow it down just a bit and not get too far ahead.

We may be seeing more of the iron Born stuff that was in Feat for Crows surrounding the King's Moot and Euron

It looks like Dany will wind up back at the place for Dothraki widows and old crones where she was originally going to be sent when Drago died. Jorah and Dario's story arc will probably involve travelling there to rescue her. IIRC, her scene last season didn't end with Drogon by her side like in the books so she has no muscle to even take over the Khalasar

Jamie will be traveling to the Riverlands and his season story will probably mostly be the siege at Riverrun story. We'll supposedly be seeing the Blackfish again

We'll finally get back to Bran's story arc

Sam's story involving his dad/family

And a huge battle for the north between Stark supporters and Boltons. Supposedly led by Jon Snow and Sansa

All in all, it seems they might actually be bringing back some of the skipped story arcs and kind of stretching out some tangents rather than delving too deep into uncharted territory. I'm not sure if that is to allow Martin to get Winds of Winter out without spoiling everything, or they are giving HBO their wish of getting another season or two out of the show

Considering that the show runners have said they only want to do 2 more seasons, I think it's a given that the show is going to go far beyond what the books have shown us. However, as much as they've started diverging from the books, I don't think that's any reason to assume that the end of the show will be the same as what will happen in the books...

I don't know why people even assumed the next book would be out before the start of this season in the first place. I don't recall even a hint of that being possible. Personally I love how the show is going its own path. Gives me that much more to enjoy.

I do remember reading that Martin did say that he had hoped for the next book to be out before the start of this season. Either way Im stupid excited for this season.

I did say he wanted to try to get it out before the next season and even announced the deadline for him to get it to the publisher in order to get it out (which he admits he missed)

Yea, sadly I have only read the first and the second book. I keep telling myself after each season ends that I will read the books before next season... never happens..lol

At this point, you might just want to hold off on reading the books, and then revisit them after the series is done. Hell, by that point, Martin should be disappointing fans with how he blew yet another deadline for releasing the final book. :lol

Some of it makes about as much sense as Jon snow turning into a dragon :lol

But yes, if you want to remain spoiler free, this one does seem to contain at least some accurate spoilers amongst the questionable ones.
