Game of Thrones

Yeah, there are wights (effectively mindless zombies) and there are white walkers ("Others".) The white walkers are alive and quite sentient, albeit with unknown motives and goals.

I'm actually curious about the red haired witch woman. I completely forgot about her scene until today. She told Stannis that he was too weak to make another son and that only someone with kings blood can do it.

Seeing as Robert and Renley are dead and Jeffrey is to marry Marjory, I'm wondering if she's gonna go try and bump uglies with gendry

If they stick to the books, she'll want to sacrifice him. She practices blood magic. In the books, she never had sex with Stannis, but powered her "shadow children" with the blood of Edric Storm, an acknowledged illegitimate son of Robert's. Stannis wouldn't let her properly sacrifice him, so she had to collect blood from the boy via leeches. She said that it wouldn't be as potent a ritual, but that it should still work. She constantly presses him for royal blood in the books.

Not sure where you got that from. She had plenty of sex with Stannis. There was no explicit sex scene between them in the books, but its constantly implied with mention of her always being in his tent. They weren't in there praying to the Seven! :lol

It's possible. I mean, they were never explicit about Renly and Lauras in the books either, but I always got the impression of Stannis being immovable in his honor and figured he would stick to his wedding vows.

Then again, wouldn't be the first time I was wrong about something like that.

Since Stannis doesn't have that boy to use as a sacrifice in order to bring a dragon back to life, you think the sacrifice the red lady keeps referring to might end up being....

Oh, no. NO NO NO NO NO!

That would differ from the book(s) though I am surprised really that it at least isn't brought up as a possibility.

Why else is she here? Season 2 not only didn't have Shireen, it flat out denied her existence with Melisandre's comments regarding how Stannis' wife couldn't bear him any sons and only gave him stillborns and death. You would think Melisandre would mention his daughter as something that is useless to him.

Shireen's... condition... could also be seen as a curse which might keep her from being a viable choice - either as an heir or as a sacrifice.

As I recall, Melisandra DID propose that, at least obliquely, but Stannis loves his daughter and made it clear from the start that she was not to be touched. I could be mistaken, but I clearly remember him verbally bitchslapping Melisandra about it.

We haven't had a scene like that in the series yet.

So watching the episode again I caught something I missed the first time. When Missandei says Valar Morghulis and Dany responds with something like "we are not men" and Missandei smiles, I originally just thought the smile was just because of the humor of the response, but now I think it was more because Missandei was tipped off that Dany is fluent in Valyrian despite acting like she needs a translator and likewise, she knows that she has a plan...
