Game of Thrones

I may be mistaken, and hope I am. I just looks like the Bolton squad is going to be standing in for the Mummers...

Soon, Maester Qyburn's services are going to be needed. I hope he's around. (Sort of.)

Yeah, looks like you're right. Noah Taylor is playing Locke, and it looks like Locke is basically a stand-in for Vargo Hoat. I guess they're also amping up Bolton's role this season too. Interesting choice, and it makes sense.

I can kind of get why they'd do this. Hoat hadn't been introduced last season, which would've been when we'd expect him to show up. So to have a wacky character like that show up, and say "I was working for one guy, now I'm working for another, and I'm to take you to the new boss..." would take forever. Easier to just say "I'm with this boss, and you're comin' with me." Plus, Hoat's kind of...silly, really. At least as described in the book.

And hey, look at it this way. Noah Taylor DOES have a slight lisp. You may get your "thapphireth" yet. ;)

In the books, after the destruction of Winterfell, Bran and Rickon seperate, then basically you don't really see Rickon again. I wonder if that will happen in the show?

I'd figure so, yeah. Mostly because Rickon is kind of a useless character. He's young and loony and....that's it. He doesn't do much other than act feral.

And in the books he's all of 3 years old. He may figure in the line of succession for House Stark, but isn't old enough to be interesting on his own.

So, if they write him out this season, which seems likely, will Osha go with him? I like how they've expanded her character on the show and I enjoy the actress as well, so it would be a shame to lose her. I got the feeling the showrunners liked her, too. Still, if she didn't go off with Rickon, I suppose the only alternative would be to kill him off and that would suck, so I hope they don't do that.

Not necessarily. They could always just squirrel him away with someone else without telling them who he is. "We're headed north to the wall. It's no place for this boy. Will you take him in?"

Or Osha could meet with some wildling whom she knows, who's made it south of the wall, and hand Rickon off to him. Or maybe Osha will exit stage left, now that we've got the Reeds along for the ride.

I accidentally caught some spoilers elsewhere, and I gather it's possible he might appear later in the story, but who knows.

Interesting theories. I'm all caught up in the books, so I know what happens there. Be interesting to see what the show does, though.

I'm caught up on the books, and I haven't seen anything to indicate that. At this point, it's merely a given that he'll appear at some point, simply because he's one of the Stark children, but that's it.

I may have totally forgotten Series 2, but when did Theon get captured by The *******? I know how it plays out in the books, but don't remember those events at all in the series...

Really bummed that The Bloody Mummers won't be making an appearance. I was really looking forward to them!

It happened off-screen. Gets knocked out at Winterfell, wakes up in captivity. Happened that way in the book, too, you don't know what's become of him until well into the book:

When they send Catelyn a souvenir.

We're picking it up earlier in the show, actually seeing what happens to him, as opposed to hearing about it after the fact. Remember, in the book, he's already Reek by the time we actually go back to him again. This time we're actually seeing him being broken, which isn't going to be pleasant.

Anyone else get the idea that the ******* is messing with Theon? Very convenient that there's a spy from his sister handy to let him out. Captured while trying to escape? That's not going to be pretty.

There's mention of rumors in book 5 I believe that Osha and Rickon are in Skagos. And if you've read book 5, then you know what else is gathering there.

I'm pretty sure thats exactly what's happening. Ramsay is setting Theon up, so he can hunt him down after he escapes.:devil

Thanks, Jedi.

In the series, did we see Ramsey ambush Rodrick outside Winterfell, and slay all the Northmen? Can't believe I can't remember... I remember how it played out in the books so vividly.

No, we didn't.
All we saw was Rodrick marched back into Winterfell as the Ironborn's prisoner.

No, that was in the books, but didn't happen in the show - Winterfell was taken by the Ironborn, who then left before Bolton's folks showed up to "liberate" it.

Edit: that is, just what firesprite said.

Wow what an episode! The scene between Arya, Gendry, and Hot Pie was quite touching. Loved the humorous stuff (Small Council musical chairs, Pod/Tyrion/Bronn scene), but the stuff at Riverrun and Jamie/Brienne was even better. They're really building up the tension with Theon's story and Dany's as well. I think this season is off to a much better start compared to last season.

For the other book readers here, it seemed like there were a lot of little "easter eggs" thrown in. The mentioning of the Meereenese knot, Arya's call back to her friend Micah, and the awesome, awesome scene with Dany, Barristan, and Jorah. Seriously, just so much good stuff. Gotta watch it again!
