LOL, what is your problem?

*edit*

Scratch that, I don't want to know what your problem is. Sorry I asked.

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

Just out of curiosity, how old are you, Papa Smurf?

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

Oh, yeah, yeah, I saw your picture now. What are you, in your 30's?

You're cute. I thought I was talking to some old fart. Have a nice day, youngster. Some of us adults have to go to work today.

You know what the biggest problem is with RPF "old salts" who like to go on rants? I mean the problem in addition to the one where they like to talk down to everyone and make the place unfriendly and act like being online since 2000 somehow makes them seasoned. It's that their purported "old eyes" have no grasp of accuracy. They just don't see the details. And it frustrates them when someone else's 44 and 45 and 46 year old eyes do see every single fraction of a millimeter - every angle, every nuance - and some of these eyes have been seeing everything online since the early 80's - that's a lot of screen time and yet those cones are still working.

Stick to the facts, keep your rants to yourself.

He's already be chastised over on the Graflex addicts fb group for a similar childish outburst.
Classic small man syndrome I'm afraid.

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

Just went to my displayed stuff cabinet, and made some quick measurements with my digital calipers (it shows hundreds of mm, with the calipers tolerance of 0,03, but for us thats ridicuolous, so i will go for one digit, that´s tenth of a mm, 0,004 inch).......

Atm i have 3 converted real Graflexes in it, and the 2 replicas still unaltered.

Body diameters (at the high of the beertab rivet) spread from 38,0mm to 38,1mm - randomly, real and replicas. all 5 have a material thickness from 1,14 to 1,16mm.

Bunny ears thickness is more or less 1,0mm on all (between 0,97 and 1,03, so inside the a.m. tolerance), the width is 15,9mm.

The thin strip between side holes and front edge is 4,1mm and 4,2mm on the real, 4,5mm on the unknown replica. Romans has only 3,2mm - so these holes seem slighly to high. I also can see the upper edge of the black plastic and the brass part.

Sidehole dia Romans and 2 real are 14,2mm, 1 real is 14,3mm, and the other replica is 14,4mm

The square holes are more or less the same, the amount of black plastic showing in the holes varies from edge to egde, on the real ones as much as on the replicas.

Other than those things like the bolts vs rivets and such stuff, the placement of the sideholes seems the only real difference i can find. This thing is made close enough for governmental work, so i call it more than well made for a replica.

This is what I was talking about. :) You don't see it - even with calipers. I understand accuracy isn't important to everyone. I don't know what else to say

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

Just tried to bring some number to the game, might help people to have the difference without owning a lot of sabers. :)

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

Hey, I value the fact not everyone sees eye to eye and that some people are extremely forgiving of accuracy. I'm forgiving to the point of not wanting a refund and not harboring any ill feelings toward the man who put this together. The resultant flashes are just not what I want to build for my personal collection, so I'll build them to a higher "whiz-bang-pow" FX state and sell them off to someone who will appreciate them far more.

It may be that no replica will ever satisfy me and I can only have vintage parts. I've said I love the ROTJ "DV6" saber design, so everyone already knows I'm a strange cat. We'll see.

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

I would say it plain out the way "Without owning all those sabers for years, handling them, just watching pics on the net - you see nothing."

If the difference between real graflexes is the same as between a graflex and a replica - complaining is stupid, and those persons better never buy a real one. To much chance they will be dissapointed and complain about the real one being not real enough. :D
