Limited Run === G R A F L E X === Flashgun Gen.2 ... now taking PRE-ORDERS!!! New Pics Oct. 5

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

I got my shipping notices today! (I ordered very late, so he must be nearing the very end of the list).

I'll be signing up for the MPP run as well.

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

Did you already have yours in hand @Pixelpiper?

Delivered yesterday, sitting at my mailbox with an MK1 and a bunch of other items. Photos have been enough so far, I hope I don't find anything I haven't already seen when I have them in my hands to prevent me from building them out as I plan.

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

This is true. I used to organize group buys back in the day with these replicas(and Blastech [emoji13]) and they were VERY good.

You get it then. $150 from a shop in China. Evenly plated, pretty darn accurate everything was compatible. Biggest complaint was a scratch here or there. This was just a few years ago, not back in the day. I guess I just assumed Roman's would be better than what Parks used to put out. At least, as good.

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

Wasn't that back 13 years ago? Going to need the 'member berries.

I'm not sure when the shop closed. But the last group buy I organized was back in the early 2000's when the prequel's came out.

You could get them up to 2014-2015

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

If I remember correctly, that was inventory from the earlier production runs. High volume was needed to get the price that low. The inventory lasted years.

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

This is the "wow" moment. The problem with this, of course, is that TGS was cheaper, but people went with Roman due to his reputation. Also, there have been some opportunities to buy a vintage for double or triple what Roman was charging, even as late as the last few months, because his product was saturating the market as "an acceptable alternative". Now, those opportunities are gone. Good luck trying to get a vintage at a reasonable price after many of these go on sale, and/or even trying to distinguish if the seller's item is a real vintage or one of these.

All good things must come to an end. This is like watching a train wreck in slow motion. Hopefully the competitor saves us.

"Pretty darn accurate"? So the inaccurate clamp lettering\spacing, inaccurate clamp lever, inaccurate screw, inaccurate fastener holding the bulb release wasn't an issue for you with the Parks v1?

if thats the case then youre obviously biased or not done your homework on what the actual issues with the v1 were. Facts are no one has produced an absolute 100% accurate replica of a vintage Graflex. If anyone came close maybe it was GR (GraflexReborn). But try finding one of those now and tell me what kind of shape its in. I bet its all rusted to hell.

There will be no problems there. Night and day the differences. And if anyone is unsure it takes only a moment to ask someone who knows.

You've seen ebay lately? Sellers can do a lot of razzle dazzle and bait and switch.

Good luck

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

Don't forget that the first wave of v1s from Parks had the square based pins in all ports.

The only thing they can do to fool someone who knows a vintage is to use photos of a vintage and then ship something else. And in that case it means they'll lose their money AND their flash because a PayPal dispute will land the buyer with both in a split second. With a counterfeit complaint the seller is dead in the water.

I've been buying and selling on eBay regularly since 1999 - eBay sellers have almost zero recourse today when it comes to buyer complaints. It's a buyer's platform.

This is one of the reasons it's imperative that discussions of accuracy get into all the fine details here. It doesn't give any ammunition to a counterfeiter, only to a buyer who should be informed.

I would not buy a graflex off ebay right now. Have you seen all the tops being sold by themselves. Buy it nows for less than 200. Full goes for 600 to more? Somethings not right. Even if you pieced one together it's still way less expensive.

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

That's exactly what I am saying. Well, perhaps people thought, if I just get a real bottom, it will have the correct stamp and people won't notice the top is a replica so much.

Now, it could swing just the opposite: people trying to buy up the tops.

To be clear I am speaking more of production quality not design accuracy. The Parks V1 was the best you could get back then. It was nowhere near accurate enough to even coming close to passing off as vintage. But vintage parts were compatible. And in the three or so group buys I organized I've never had a quality control issue. No bent parts, no rough edges, no uneven or rough plating.

Quality standards just aren't as high as they used to be. The manufacturers are out for the money. No doubt they know that this is a Star Wars item that is in very high demand. They are just trying to crank them out as quickly as possible. I have no doubt the Parks/Korbanth new hilt runs will have similar quality issues. Again, in quality NOT accuracy.

I have seen that. When you add up what you'll spend to buy all the parts, $600 for a complete unit will save you money. $200 for the top is not a deal. They don't include glass eye or red button for that price. Some don't even include the bunny ears.

200 top
200 bottom
200 clamp
150 button
150 eye

Those are all prices (+/-) I've seen in the past month.

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

Holy wookie balls!!! I just got a shipping notification... and I ordered in November of 2016!!!

Roman is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for finding vintage parts, I was lucky enough to snag a beat up top half for $100, complete with button and glass eye. Thinking of leaving it corroded, and making a one off ESB, like what would be found in the depths of Bespin. Finding a vintage 3 cell bottom is hell though. I've seen some for over $300!

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

This is really getting out of hands. It's like buying a Rolex Submariner replica and then complain because it's not waterproof. You wanted the "look" for a fraction of the price, right? "Oh, but Rolex is waterproof!" Yes. We know. Then you should've gotten a real one. People, this is a REPLICA. And a very good damn one. You want 100% accuracy, get a 100% Graflex, or wait until someone makes a compatible blade holder. Period. You waited 1-2 years for this to happen, you can wait 1-2 weeks until someone makes a new blade holder.

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

This is not meant for any one member but if it strikes a nerve.....well... tough crap, your feelings are literally non existent on my list of priorities.

Does anyone else notice almost everyone complaining is a complete RPF noob?? You all are clueless on how the fan driven market and prop runs in general work. Whining about making official statements and comparing this to a 2.0 is absolutely stupid. The ones really pissing and moaning have to be millennials. The ridiculous terms you all use and the disgusting entitlement you have. Not to mention the total lack of respect toward someone who's been doing this since before you were probably born. Someone who's contributed more to this hobby than your lot ever will.

I've seen it all and owned it all when it comes to the Graflex. I've owned everything from replicas that were complete garbage to a 100% mint in mint box 3 cell. Romans REPLICA is without question the best thing next to a vintage 3-cell. That's it.. period. That is an undeniable fact. Show me something better if you disagree. I dare you.

So for those of you whinny, nit picky cry babies who are acting like the world is over (basically over a blade holder), you're the ones that destroy the hobby. Instead of working on a solution you focus on the tiniest of problems like it's the end of the world and run with your misguided emotional nonsense. Keep that attitude and you will fail your entire life and be miserable to boot. You're here to CONTRIBUTE to the COMMUNITY. Not to bitch and try to run the bus over a VERY long time veteran. Not gonna happen on my watch boys. So go to Home Depot... get a ladder.... and GET OVER IT!! Work together to improve. Don't start a riot and try to lynch one of our long time veterans who was able to give you something you have never owned. Grow up people.
