Limited Run === G R A F L E X === Flashgun Gen.2 ... now taking PRE-ORDERS!!! New Pics Oct. 5

Re: === G R A F L E X === flashgun ... anyone?

where do u go to get this?

The product or the video? The video was shared by Solo's Hold and Goth 3Designs (Darth Ryo) on Facebook. The final product will be available at some point in the future and I'm sure both of those guys will post information on where to buy.

Haha, I was going to post the video here... glad to see it's done already :D

Yes, I'll post more details soon.
I'll have the final prototype in hands in the coming weeks, and then Solo's Hold will be good to go in production (at which time everything will be detailed to you guys)!

That is the most accurate blade holder as it can get, modeled from vintage parts ^^

Re: === G R A F L E X === flashgun ... anyone?

Looking forward to seeing more of the blade holder - I'm assuming it'll be milled from aluminum if SH is handling production?

It'll definitely save me some time/effort as I was previously planning to drill out and tap the glass-eye area on one of the Graflex Shop holders.

Re: === G R A F L E X === flashgun ... anyone?

That is sooo bad ass!! I've been wondering when something like this was going to be made. Great work. I know what's going into my Roman's Graflex replica when I build it.

lol sorry i should have been more specific, i want to jump on that run. will it be posted here or on the saber forums?

Re: === G R A F L E X === flashgun ... anyone?

New blade holder coming that will allow re-use the vintage/repro Graflex parts to complete a blade plug and uses the glass eye port for retention (open hole so you can also shine light through the glass eye if you'd like).

Hey ryo,
Of the aforementioned updates, will this include the step in the pocket for the brass pins? When you use the brass strip under the top pin on the current blade adapters, and from what it looks like your first prototype as well, the top pin sticks out more than the bottom, this has always driven me nuts

It will be purchasable through Solo's Hold, but it will be announced here too when they are available, no worries!

Yeah I know what you mean and we've been discussing it. The brass strip is about 0.2mm thickness, so while it isn't much, a close look will notice it.

For now I can't really answer tho. While I can perfectly design it for a 3D printed part, having this machined isn't the same story (we have to keep the production cost bearable). I also would like to avoid a 2 parts blade holder for the same reason.
This is an open point for now.

Glad it's an open point. My vote goes for the 2 part holder in the name of accuracy. After taking a closer look at the vintage bulb socket it seems this would be the only way to get the step.
Also I hadn't realized before that this was intended to be a machined part, thought it would be printed. On that note if aluminum was the initial thought, have you guys thought about doing delrin at all? Might be cheaper especially when you consider anodizing, and would have more of the look and feel of the original part. Just a thought

It's funny, I was originally obsessed with including the step between the brass pins, however Solos Hold needed to remind me what can and cannot be done when it comes to things in the machining world. We could do a step, but that would mean either lots of tiny machine lines ( complicating the machining process and bringing costs up), or making it in two peices and heavily affecting the cost and build/ install process.

The things I was adamant about was the deep pockets (7/8 blade was a must for this), lip and cutouts on the emitter face, and use of the metal components under the retention screw.

FIY, I work with Cedric (darth Ryo) a lot on design and what not I just don't make it over here enough.

Had not thought about delrin. Actually, delrin is more expensive than aluminum, by a lot the last time I checked.

Gah, now you got me thinking. I know of a way we could make this work as a two piece. I'll go over it with Ced and Aaron. And see how much they hate the idea.

Re: === G R A F L E X === flashgun ... anyone?

While we are discussing about the blade holder, lemme share this new chassis demo.
This is the middle tier... the top tier design (with metal printed parts) design is in progress.

(I did forget to properly tighten the bunny ears screw before shooting this demo... I did it after but was lazy to re-shoot everything :p)

Ryo - the knight looks awesome, can't wait to see what the next 2 look like!

i have a replica flashgun coming in from this run which I'm gonna create ANH prop from, would very much like to put one of your chassis in there!

Re: === G R A F L E X === flashgun ... anyone?

Maybe it would be good to start a new and separate thread for the addons?

I'm down for that. Talking about the options for electronics and accurate greebles. I have really been having trouble figuring out what grips to get on mine. (TFA Version) It's like what they did for the Parks Graflex 2.0
