Limited Run === G R A F L E X === Flashgun Gen.2 ... now taking PRE-ORDERS!!! New Pics Oct. 5

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

I was planning to make an ESB saber and am now concerned about the beer tab. I removed the red button and the tab seems attached on the other end. Has anyone removed it yet and did it leave a hole?

Thanks

It will leave a hole. If you're going to do this, I would strongly recommend taping off around the body next to the beer tab. Use a center punch from the backside by going through the glass eye hole. Once you've got it loose, you can pull from the front with needle nose pliers. Be very careful not to scratch the body of the Graflex.

I put 3 big cell batteries in my flashgun and must recomend this to anyone looking to keep this replica as a static display prop! It adds a real nice weight and so cool that it lights up though the glass eye

its a work of art Roman, outstanding indeed! i know I need to put my grips and kit I got from Roy but I really like it as it is and it displays very well as it is!

has anyone managed to get the eye off? It's really tough don't want to break it!

I don't generally think it's a good idea to leave batteries in anything long-term; I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult to simulate the weight using some washers threaded onto a rod?

I was thinking the same thing. Leaking batteries aren't fun.

Any updates on the chassis? :unsure was Roman even going to do Graflex chassis, I haven't seen a direct confirmation :confused

A warning to anyone who plans to do an ammonia fumes treatment to darken your brass pins. I let mine sit in a Tupperware tub above the liquid overnight and yes, it darkened the pins. But it also ate away at the THIN brass contact piece that the pins are connected to., so much so that one contact crumbed and broke off in one side, and the layer underneath the lip in the center actually broke apart into several pieces. Anyone got an extra of that part?:wacko

Oh man! Next time maybe remove the pins (carefully with needle nose pliers). Thankfully, there are plenty of sellers on Etsy that sell replacement brass contact strips. I installed some in my Graflex 2.0 a while back. A bit tedious but totally doable.

I think the answer would be a big no, its not his thing.

They are for sale on his website currently

That's the bladeholder. A chassis to hold any internals (be they electronics or static adornments) is a completely different animal, although Roman is using the 3 x 4-40 screw holes considered "standard" for the existing chassis makers. ;)

Jedioz, I would personally check out the chassis offerings previously mentioned, from MB-Sabers and GOTH-3Designs.
