Futurama - Brainslug.

I'll chime in and agree with everyone else. The brainslug looks amazing. Have to agree with Hydin. For some reason I had a more transparent green material in my mind, and I have never seen the toy.

If you do a run, I might be interested pending the price.

Thanks ever so much everyone, I didn't expect such a response.

I cast it in PlatsilGel10, though I'm looking for a more transparent silicone to work with, as the eyeball is solid and in theory if I find a nice transluscent material, then you'll be able to just see the eyeball from the back too.

I'm hoping to sell them for somewhere around £30, need to pour another up and measure exactly how much silicone goes into each one.

That's awesome. I'm not very familiar with European currency... or which one you're using... but I'm interested.

How are they weight-wise? I worry that the silicone will make these too heavy to wear with only a couple bobby pins or clip keeping it on while you're moving around.

Regardless, I LOVE it!

To be accurately worn they need to be leaning over the side of the head, as seen in the screen-cap. that makes weight all the more crucial.

Good point, I weighed the test cast and it's about 500g. Though it does have a completely flat bottom (I've yet to make the base section of the mould that will make the base concave)

Just a thought, but if these are a bit heavy, instead of using elastic, which will stretch with the weight, why not use some of those clear vinyl straps with an adjustable buckle that could be under the chin. Just brainstorming here.

If one turns out slightly flat or badly misshapen it can be the one that starved trying to feed off Fry lol.

Does it have to be solid? Can you slush cast urethane rubber around a two-part enclosed mould? I'm thinking like a rubber duck; as in the fabrication, not me as a duck.

Another thought for tead attachment:

Those little ironic(?) steampunkish hats often seemed to be attached to a plastic headband from the examples I've seen, though, I've never paid close attention to them before.

Mind control has never looked so adorable.

Yeah that is a great little bug! How about creating a vac-formed shape in clear plastic to cast it around? That would greatly reduce the weight for sitting it on your head but would still let the light through if you did it in a translucent silicone, would also be a good mounting point for the eye and whatever fitting you use.
