Fringe

Did I miss something in last night's episode?
Am I nuts or wasn't Col. Broyles (alt. universe) killed helping Olivia escape back to the normal universe?

Another forum I belong to that discusses Fringe suggested that since Peter never existed, all kinds of things are changed now, both here and there.

Yep, remember, certain events were changed or never took place due to the events of last season's finale. This is a new "orange" universe, where Peter never existed.

I thought that all that changed was Peter was removed from existence. They need to explain it a little better.

The removal worked retroactively; the Observers were talking about how he never made it to adulthood, implying he died in adolescence (probably from the illness shown in earlier episodes). Walter also made a comment on how sometimes, someone can even die twice, so I bet he failed both times in trying to save Peter.

It should be noted, that this season is a love letter from Fringe to their loyal fans, so certain things that they loved will be touched upon again. Bringing AltBroyles back is fine with me, now I have to start looking again for other little background stuff.

The stuff with the two Olivia's was great in the last episode. I always loved the idea of alternate personality battles. I remember seeing one from Lost in Space as a kid.

I think a more appropriate response is that you need to wait a bit better. This is fringe. Expecting them to detail all the reprocussions of peters absence in one episode is a bit much. The explanations are as much of the story as anything.

I'm just finishing season ONE. An awesome TV show, I hope it doesn't end (but not too soon!) as bad as Lost did.

All they needed was a throw away line from the Black Hat guys about the timeline changing. I can't be the only one who saw Broyles and said "WTF, he's dead?!?".

I watched the two new shows and and it seems like it jumped ahead to some point that Peter is gone, so I must have missed the last episode of last season or something because I don't remember Peter being erased. I haven't missed an episode--at least I didn't think so until now. Did I miss something somewhere?

But that wasn't the first instance of the differing timeline. And hate to tell you, but they did exactly that. When Newlivia is talking to our Lincoln, they say something along the lines of "she used to know him..."

Pretty big indicator that the timeline has changed.

And just because some people don't put together what's happening doesn't mean it's the shows fault. Fringe is actually pretty decent about seeding clues and info...you just have to pay attention. And I am glad of it. It's nice to have a show that treats me like an intelligent human being and not some mindless drone. I like having to put into it to get something out.

As Walter said (or kinda said as I'm not looking it up) "open your mind, or someone will open it for you"
