Frigga, Thor 2 dress and armor sculpt: Finished!

Re: Frigga, Thor 2 dress and armor sculpt in progress

Carving a linoleum stamp for the repeating pattern on the bottom of each layer of the dress.

Unfortunately the fabric paint I had intended to work did not work very well with this, so I'm off to find a better option today.

Ooooh this is so gorgeous! I've been dying to do Frigga myself since the movie came out - for so, so many reasons, but have been really busy with work and no time for costumes for myself. :[ But it makes me really happy to see yours, and see what a fantastic job you are doing with it! If I make it to Dragoncon I am certainly keeping my eyes peeled for you! Good luck finishing it! :D

The stamp and dress are now 95% done; I just need to slip stitch all the edges. Going to do that last (ie, in the van!) as I'm pulling together the leather bits for the armor build now.

I made a harness for the armor and it's all ready to go..... I have to paint the chicago screws bronze and hem the dress, but that's IT. It's on! See you guys at Dragoncon!

OK...been patiently waiting...

Any pics of the entire costume from DCon? :)

Re: Frigga, Thor 2 dress and armor sculpt in progress

Very nice. May be hitting you up in a couple months for some parts (if you still plan to do them for others, that is). Wife still wants to do this costume to go with my Odin.

This is absolutely amazing! You are gorgeous! I'm new to Cosplaying, well, sort of. I've done Renn Faires for many years but never stuff for Comic Cons. I will be doing my first Cosplay next month at Jekyll Comic Con. Just last week, I was trying to figure out who I wanted to cosplay as when my husband suggested Frigga. I was so excited to find your posts! I may be hitting you up for advice in the very near future. :)

Absolutely beautiful. My wife is sooooo jealous of this costume.

I love how this turned out! I am currently working on this costume and I was wondering how you styled the back of the dress. I have looked over all the pics I could find and watched the scenes in the movie and have been unable to figure out how the back and left side of the dress goes. I thought each layer just wrapped around but now I am thinking the top layer dips almost to the floor, but I am not sure exactly how to style that. I saw mention of the pattern you were working but the pics linked there do not seem to work. Any advice on this would be great thanks.

Hey! All the links seem to work for me.

I did the dress in two sections: A skirt, which was the bottom and middle layer, on a simple piece of elastic; and the top, which was more of a shift. I made it a four panel dress; the front panel was the largest and made of a single piece. The back two panels were side A and side B, and I inserted a C panel between the two in a V-formation about halfway down my back. This gave the dress a lot more flow in the back.

I hope that helps!

I was lucky to find a commercial pattern that was very similar to the dress and have modified it to look just right. Thanks for the dress info. Now all I need to do is settle on a wig and finish everything up.

I just discovered this. I absolutely love the work!
You had mentioned you might make a pattern of the dress, did you ever do this? I’ve been struggling with figuring out the top layer and how to get the draping/pleating in the back.
