Decided to post some WIP images for the Starlord movie pistols.

Here is the reference:

The first failed part print (The layers are slumping to one side):

The parts were modeled in Rhino 3D with a little bit of help on the grip from Claytools by Sensable. I'm printing the parts on a B9 Creator DLP printer.

The 3D renders look really nice, the resin parts look like they've lost a lot of the sharp detail, would a company like Shapeways be able to print to a higher quality?

For a first try they look pretty good.

I look forward to seeing more.

What about uploading the model parts to Shapeways and selling kits that way?

Its worked well for a number of runs here and saves you time and hassle of making molds and casting kits.

The B9 is working very well but you do have to replace the silicone coating in the bottom of the resin vat every 6-10 print runs. That can get a bit tedious, but if you spend the cash on two vats you can avoid down time and just rotate them.
