Company called Big Blue Saw does water and laser cutting of various metals and plastics. They are offering one free custom part on the 6th of August, all you pay is the postage and handling.

Some details:
  • We will have two stock materials/thicknesses available for making your part on Free Part Day: waterjet cut aluminum 6061 1/8 (0.125) inches thick and laser cut acrylic plastic, 0.118 inches thick.
  • There is a limit of one design (DXF/PNG/GIF or Big Blue Saw Designer file) per customer.
  • Designs are limited in size to 9" x 9".
  • We reserve the right to reject designs that are too complex or can't be made on the waterjet or the laser.
  • You must pay the packaging and shipping costs.
  • All orders must be completed through the online ordering process.

excellent..... hard to believe nobody has got an idea squirreled away for this. Then again I don't either. Time to come up with something!

Does anyone have the dimensions for something like that and would anyone be willing to share dimensions for this? If multiple pieces can be be made how many could someone get out of 9x9 square?

I was just reading up on the Q & A section on the site...apparently you can include more than one seperate design, so long as they all fit on the 9" x 9" sheet limit.

Also, they can also do etching, but etching is not included in the free offer.
 
Hmmmmm, really interested in this. I'll have to rack my brain for something I could get cut...

Edit - clear acrylic gun/saber stands anyone? :love

Im thinking an imperial logo for a custom helmet stand or seal of rassilon to replicate that cool sonic screwdriver base from the liscensed one just released

Im hoping someone has a design we could use!
 
I was considering maybe blades for a Freddy glove...not sure I want one of those in the house, though..with my 5-year old gettin' her hands on everything she can. She's already playing with my bullwhip. *lol*
 
From what I know, the batarangs are the same shape as the main logo used

If someone can get me decent overall dimensions (or any at all), I can take a crack getting one modeled up (today before 3:30pm EST). Slow day at work :confused
 
That is what I came up with (a little under 6)... I just printed off the logo and if it is 9x9, you maybe able to get about 5 or so. I am still working on it on graph paper. I will scan it once I am done. Hopefully, they could just take the image and run with it.

It is times like this that I am happy being a high school teacher...lots of time to waste. :D
