Well I have been wanting to make a Death dealer costume for a long time and getting the replica Axe and Shield for my Bday got me in gear to do it! Helmet is finished, will be moving onto the belt and Shoulder Armor and Shin armor soon. Helmet is 3D printed with some additions for the mouth area using sheet styrene.
He did two paintings of him on a horse the original and the 6th painting. While the painting was an original painting for himself in 1973 it was used as the cover of Flashing Swords 2 a year later and then as the cover for Molly Hatchets debut album five years later in 1978. The character spawned 4 novels by James Silke with Frazetta's permission from 1988-1990. Then a comic series that had nothing to do with the Novels came out in 1995 written by Heavy Metal musician Glenn Danzig and published through his comic company Verotik.
In 2007 yet another comic version came out published by Image Comics as a six issue mini Series and again was a completely different version, that series also spawned a D&D style table top RPG game.
I based my take on the helmet loosely off the Randy Bowen statue from the 1990's that Frank Frazetta himself designed the face of the helmet for.
Well the costume is pretty much done, have to adjust the shoulder armor attachments so they sit up higher and I'm still working on con safe 3D printed versions of the sword and Axe (Axe in the pics is a real one). Decided to do another version of the helmet closer to the Bowen statue so I commissioned the digital sculpt through a guy on Fiver and 3D printed it out. Eyes are lit with LED strips. I want to add a smoke effect that will come out of the eyes soon. Parts to build a small smoke machine are on the way.
