FP Naboo Royal Starship

Ok, not strictly a prop but this is just so worth sharing.

I commisioned the build/finish of this 'Fantastic Plastic' Naboo Royal Starship a while ago and it's now here. I chose http://joesmodels.50webs.com/ and I'm mighty glad I did!

The diorama base I made myself btw... just about the limit of my skills.

You have to tell us how the elusive chrome finish was done! Is that paint, or some kind of plating..?

Mind you, no matter how good the model is I think the standard of your photos improve it 100%!

I have the same question as many others - how'd ya do that chrome?
I have been considering my finishing options for my 1/72 Naboo Royal Starship - so I am intered in what worked well on this.

Just to reiterate, I didn't do the finish or build myself.

The chrome effect is Alclad II. Something about Krylon Gloss Black undercoat and very, very well cured before applying the Alclad.

Alclad is a miracle product. Makes so many things possible and easier to pull off without huge effort.

That's beautiful! The Ep. 1 Royal Starship is probably my favorite thing from all of the prequels!! Absolutely gorgeous and the base really makes it stand out IMHO - great idea!

ALCLAD II? I can't seem to get that kind of finish when I use it. Can you handle that beauty of ship without worrying about dulling the finish?
