I was watching Hellboy again today and saw a very brief shot of the case the Samaritan is kept it. I must have seen it a dozen times in the past, it just never made an impression before today.

Does anyone recognize this box as a found item or was it created for the film? The latch reminds me of an ammo box, but then it has a piano hinge...

It may just be the way i look at things, but that piano hinge looks as though it wasn't an original feature of the box. Would i be right in saying that the hinge has a brass type tone to it, when clearly the box is some sort of steel painted green.

Could be that the box is indeed an ammo box, and a piano hinge has been retro fitted???????

that would be a cool way to display it

i've never been a fan of that display that Sideshow used

MIne isnt as deep as it should be but I made a thick plywood box and a lid mold and vacformed it in 3mm plastic (HIPS/Styrene).
I used a piano hinge for the hinge, and heat formed the locking piece over a suitable wooden shape I made up.
Stuck it all together and sprayed it up with tamiya green I had left over from my Pulse Rifle.
The lettering was sponged on through a hand cut cardboard template using black acrylic.

The sponge is heavy duty case sponge you should be able to pick up from any supplier.
Get two sheets- each half the thickness of the case depth you want to fill.
one is the 'base' ( uncut, just sits in the box) and the other you cut out the silhouette outline of the gun. when you stack the foam sheets together you get a really nice custom fit holder.
Hope this inspires !!

I can think of many things to say about your work, but rather than gushing I think I'll just leave it at "Whoa!"

That would be awesome if someone offers the loaded speed loaders. :love

Scratch built? Zoinks! Great work!
x 100. I'd love to hear more about your scratch-built Samaritan. Maybe in its own thread with a plethora of build photos?

Licensed replicas are cool, but when someone knocks one out of the park like that, the super-fly factor goes into the stratosphere. :thumbsup :thumbsup
