I had the Smooth-on company in the studio today filming and taking pics and such to use in their national advertising and on their website. They sent me someof the Forton MG product to use . I use it a lot in my sculptures so I created a few different pieces for them to see. They took pics of the various processes as well.
Here is one that I did -- this is metal powder mixed in with the forton.

Turned out pretty cool!!

Al right Clay I'll ask the question, what in the hell "Forton"? Hey sorry I didn't call ya back, I'll try to give you a call later today.

Forton is a gypsum based product with a polymer added. It holds up to weather, etc. It is used sometimes for architectural features, columns, whatever.
I use it a lot in my sculptures. The metal in it will age, patina, tarnish, rust if left to the elements.
Great stuff-- No resin here at all.

So you cast this?   is it your sculpt?

EDIT : or is it a ICONS?

Just think it needs a explanation so people know the origins.

That is awesome Clay, looks like real metal.... talk about taking 100% of the fun away painting hahahaha

It is a copy of a mask tha twas given to me by Howard of K & B studios at my last visit there. It is for my own use--no reproductions or recasting here
