For gamers: what games would you like remade/updated?

I get queasy from some FPS too. I think it was FEAR that gave you an option to shut off the bouncing motion when the character runs. Gears of war made me queasy because of that.

The only time I have problems with FPS's is certain indoor areas. I think it has more to do with the colors or something. Otherwise I never have a problem. I could never play Descent though! :sick

I'd like to see another SW Battlefront, but the problem with that series is that they never went far enough with it. I want it to be more like the Battlefield series. No more vehicles were only two people can get in them. You should be able to ferry people around like the helicopters in the BF games. Use some imagination and farm the EU for cool things you could stick in it.

I am kinda surprised they didn't do one. I mean Riddick got a game lol.

To be fair, Escape from Butcher Bay was a very well done game and really enriched to Riddick's story. I haven't played Dark Athena yet so I don't know how well that one fits in.

I'm not sure how much longer Obsidian will be around. My friend was one of the producers on New Vegas. Post Fallout, he and his team were bounced around from project to project and eventually all laid-off. I get the sense that they have no internal direction other than what the game distributors dictate.

Interesting. I joke about Obsidian, but I think their big problem is what you described -- they basically do what a publisher tells 'em, and unfortunately, that usually means rushing a product out before it's ready, usually on a big-name sequel to a game that some other developer made better (but probably made for a more expensive price). Offering yourself as the cheap alternative can work, but I think the gaming market is pretty unforgiving when they see your name on several followups to amazing games, and each time you rather disappoint them.

Ever play Descent? I had no problems with it thanks to hours upon hours logged on flight sims but too many of my college buddies couldn't stand it.

Descent was WEIRD. I had a tough time with it. I could do it, but I didn't really like it much. The full 3D experience was pretty new back then, but it was the navigating of random tunnels in 3D zero-G that really did me in.

I want to first make note that this list does not mean that I hate the current versions of the game, I would just like to see a more up to date version. I in fact love some of these older versions of the game.

Star Wars IV-VI: They need to update these games BIG TIME, if they did these games with something close to the Jedi Knight game engine, that would be awesome.

Final Fantasy VII: This game could be pure win if they stuck with that demo they made for PS3

Resident Evil 2: They need to update it similar to how they did Resident Evil for Gamecube.

Wow, there are probably too many to list for me, but I will keep the list short. I would love remakes or preferably sequels to: Battletoads, Bucky O'Hare, Little Nemo: The Dream Master, and Rollergames from the NES. I also think a new Road Rash game would be a lot of fun.

The Mass Effect Series (I accidentally posted this in the Mass Effect 3 ending forum.

Stick to the same story and same level of cadence, but bring it all up to next generation graphics, improve combat, and no thermal clips. Second game needs to be affected by the first in more ways, needs to be more relevant to the overall story (No Human Reaper nonsense) and needs to keep the galaxy as the #1 threat instead of just humanity. Third game will need to go through a complete rewrite. I know that there are a lot of "95% of it was awesome until the ending!", but there are so many elements outside of bugs that just don't compliment the overall story.

If anime companies can redo their own shows (Ghost in the Shell, Evangelion) and games (Biohazard), I'd like Mass Effect to try and do the same. Only this time, have writers stick with the entire series and actually commit to plot points that the each game spends time establishing. And of course, REAL multiple endings that are so broad, you cannot possibly get half of them if you select "new game" in part 3. Good jumping in point be danged.

What are you talking about? The Super Star Wars games for the SNES were awesome!.... if a bit hard and totally maddening.

Speaking of Ghost In the Shell we need a game that doesn't suck and isn't made by Bandai. How about getting the guys from Eidos who did Deus Ex: HR to do it? that game was halfway to GIS territory anyhow even timeline wise.

I sooooo badly want the arcade Star Wars Trilogy available for a console.

I'd also love a Lego version of the BTTF series.

That could be cool. Kindof like a cross between Thief and Hitman with some Shadowrun notes. Unfortunately, my patience levels for First Person Sneakers isn't very high. I tend to do stealth as a last resort.

I know this isn't a remake (since it never got published) but I'd like to see another attempt at bringing Starcraft: Ghost to the market.

Well Ghost In the Shell isn't much about sneaking and the tactics would vary by character: if you used the major you'd sneak and if you used Batou you blow crap up with a rocket launcher lol. I'd love someone to do an update of Lunar 2. I mean it has the playstation update but they only remake the first one all the time and the 4 lackluster sequels/prequels. Actually i'd love to see most of the games working designs put out across the platforms redone, especially some of the sega cd games like Vay.

Looks like you completely skipped over the first portion in my post. I wasn't saying they sucked, or anything, I just always wanted a more "up to date" version to add some flavor. Hence the word "update".

Actraiser, simcity, Shining Force (not like the newer action/rpg things), Phantasy star (not like the newer action/rpg ones), Metroid 2, mario RPG, Metroid, chronotrigger, how about the old text based game Planet Fall from the early dos days. I think it predates Zork. The Final fantasy gameboy games (one of which was actually part of the Mana series).

King's Quest and the Police Quest games. I spent hours playing them.

Disney's The Black Cauldron game (damn climbing that castle wall was a PIA)
