Foam Template Help

Hey guys, just another lurker admiring and learning from afar! This is my first time attempting at a foam build of anything, ever, and I'm having trouble figuring out how I'm supposed to map out a template for my project. I'm currently working on a hunter costume from Destiny, and have no idea how to go about the helmet. I have a pair of ski goggles I'd like to build around, but more like a mask than a helmet. I have no idea how to use Pepakura and I'd much like to avoid it all together. Are there easier ways to go about building something like a helmet? And are there sources where I can find unfolded Pepakura templates at all? Any sort of guide would really help me out. Thanks a lot, guys!

And for reference, here's the general idea of the helmet/mask: photo.jpg

Might be easier to just scratch build it. Start with a pair of snowboard goggles or a paintball mask. Use found pieces for the other parts and glue them together.

The front mouth cover looks almost like the Save phace masks or cut a soap dispenser bottle in half and glue it on. The part on the right could be a respirator filter or plumbing accessory, and the left parts could be soap dishes, etc. Once its all painted black and weathered, no one will know its made of separate parts.

Just some ideas to get you started.

The tactical mask references I think will definitely help me build a template. Thanks for all your suggestions! Definitely gonna be a trial and error experience. :)
