Well here are the pics of my first makeup. I took a few pictures of my progress.

I forgot to take a picture of my mouth sculpt but here is the mold

I mixed gelatin using sorbitol, glycerine, and 300 bloom gelatin. I then added a base makeup color to tint it and foamed it using a little bit of citric acid and baking soda.

Here are the prosthetics pulled from the molds

I trimmed the prosthetics but later I realized I should not have done this it made the edges hard to blend. Next time I will not trim in a straight line.

I wore the makeup about 5 hrs. It held up perfectly. It took me about 3 hours to apply the makeup and paint it with alcohol makeup. It took me over an hour to take it off and remove all of the prosaid. It was also the first time I had ever worn contacts. It took me about 30 minutes to get them in and about 20 minutes to get them out. Here I am after the party and makeup removal.

All in all for my first time trying this it was a success. I had fun and everyone thought the makeup was great. I am looking forward to doing this again and creating some more characters. Feel free to give me some helpful feedback.

Looks good!

Knowing how much to trim and when (before or after application) is something that comes with practice. When you do your gelatin, make sure to thin the edges as you work out towards the edge of the mold. It's more finicky to pull, but it makes seamless application a lot easier.

Removal tip: use medical adhesive remover on a q-tip, and slide it between the appliance and your face. The bigger the q-tip (medical swabs are great for this) the quicker the removal.

this looks brilliant, i am toying with this sort of stuff too, so the edges thing is something i have read about but worry over (i'm a worrier). i would be really pleased with that if i was you, the edges still look pretty good on the photos and the whole point of all this is to look cool and fool your audience, so it looks like a double score there!

Thanks for the tips on the removal.

The face I scuplted on is a hard foam half face I bought from Monster makers. Some time in the future I plan to do a lifecast but this worked great for now.

Good job! Also, big kudos on being able to wear contacts so successfully! I've been wearing corrective lenses for a while and even now aesthetic lenses, such as for Halloween, are rough.
