First Project: Custom Plasma Cannon: Finally Finished...

While waiting on my mask and bio from Termokk, I thought I would spend a little time working on my first custom piece. Found a $3.00 toy gun, some $3.00 RC car wheels, and some foamies at Walmart. After a little cutting, grinding, and mashing things together, I cam up with something that, with enough imagination, might be called a plasma cannon. Planning on finishing the paint on it tomorrow, and making some sort of mount. Won't use this on my soon to be started suit, just a piece to set on my workbench shelf. Sorry for the crap pics, I couldn't find the charger for my camera.

Got it painted and clear coated. I'm bad for over doing paint, so had to make myself stop here. I'm working on the base/mount now, and will update as I progress (back to work tomorrow so it may be a few days). I'll try and take more pics along the way this time. Any ideas or thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks! My mask and bio should be here in a few days, keep your eyes open for a wip thread.

Finally got around to making a mount for the cannon. Like I said, won't use it on my suit, just something to sit around. Thanks for looking!

That thing looks awesome wonk

Thank you mate. I'm satisfied with the outcome for my first custom pred piece. I do agree that the arm looks a little small for the cannon, but wanted to get it done quickly and used what I had available.

Hey Brian did you use just black and silver or black and some rub & buff?

I primed with gray primer, base coated in black, then a coat of gun metal. I added some bronze in spots and then went over it in silver. I did a wash of black to bring out the details, then another coat of gun metal followed by silver again. except for the black, all the paints used were simple acrylic paints applied using sponges. I have since changed up the base coat from black to either silver or aluminum, and coat with a satin clear coat. I like the results of that better and it doesn't turn out nearly as dark.

Nice piece fella, what did you use for the am of your plasa gun ?
It's actually the part that comes of the bottom of track lighting that goes into the track (I used 2).  Someday I may replace it, as I think it
s a little to thin, but seeing as it's just sitting on a shelf, I'm not overly concerned about it right now.
