First Contact Phaser Rifle WIP

Small pinch of an update.I have a lump of clay that I think I can turn into a phaser rifle. need some stuff from the hobby store. so today at lunch I hop on my bicycle and ride up to the hobby lobby. OH! wait It's an empty parking lot. they fraking got rid of the hobby lobby. I hate you Jacksonville!

Thanks man. I appreciate the kind offer. But there's one last craft store I can go to. Just have to find transportation for that one. And thanks for liking the build. still very early In the game. But getting closer.:thumbsup

Never fails. no sooner than I think It's going to be easy sailing. a problem pops It's ugly head. I know the center plate that gets the red lights Is off. that was going to be an easy fix. but last night I was placing bottom scope plate on the mount and just checking It out. I haven't started to finish out the ribs on the barrel yet. glad I didn't.

made a big mistake staring me rite in the face. In line with the triangular part below the ribs. Its off. way off. and i'm not sure how to correct It. cew depression....

Ah damn, sorry to hear about you loosing your local hobby supplier. The town I live in used to have two decent model shops both closed years ago so I know that pain.

The overall impression is really good even if there's little details you're noticing aren't right. I think most people on here are their own hardest critics. I'm sure you'll get it all tweaked to perfection eventually!

This appears to be a rubber stunt rifle someone posted on FB. I thought it was an OK side view, except for the obvious warping. Is it helpful?

Thanks for the pic Mike. I have all kinds of pics. Was going for the look of the one from the prop store auction. Using that and pics of a roddenberry kit. My mistake was diving In too fast with the drawing blown up to scale. After many attempts to corect the problem. I've just made It worse. I'm going to attempt another barrel. If that goes south. may wait till I'm in a place to do this kind of work.

Thanks man. Searching for options now. ordered some styrene round rod. 3/16th. But I'm pretty sure the whole front srction will have to be reconfigured. Not realy Interested In somewhat close. Trying for dammed close. Lol

Just wanted to let you guys know I haven't given up on this thing. tried different barrel options nothing worked for me. so going with the original. cut the lower frame down to were the ribs fall In the general area they should. and just an fyi. this Is not the paint job. but the paint clearly shows me were all the flaws are. they will be fixed. and that back side plate Is most definitely still a work In progress.

Just working on so many separate parts In a weekend doesn't get me very far. and that this is being done In a motel room makes it a tad difficult. LOL
But I hope to end up with something that I alone would consider RPF worthy...
