Firefly Weapons Collection

Joe is the Mac Daddy of Firefly Weapons.

Joe has acquired, designed and built the best high-end Firefly/Serenity weapons collection out there.

But others have done some uber-cool things as well.
Of course I'm happy with my budget-built Firefly/Serenity weapons collection;

and a quick look through this thread reminds me of the attention to detail of tk7602's Serenity Jayne impression and I'm always amazed at the ground-breaking nature of Birdie's Firefly/Serenity weapons collection.
Has anyone else yet done a Lassiter?

Some of the others have built some really eye-catching displays.
(I'm sorry to say my collection still lives in a cedar chest.)

This whole thread is worth a quick look through!

Haha... thanks guys. :)

Indeed! I wouldn't mind having your River, Dobson and Inara pistols in my Detolf for instance... :love and I really like your Serenity grenades. I remember you mentioning before something about someone doing good castings of the River Maidenhead?

One weapon I'd like to see is Race Burgess laser pistol, from Heart of Gold. We know a member here has the stunt casting but it'd be cool if someone tackled the whole thing in metal.

Turnipy, sure thing. Will definitely be doing more shots of them. (I just bought a new camera and will be documenting my whole collection.)

It all pales into insignificance next to the Mac Daddy's LOL!

Joe's Vera shell, Sidewinder's Jayne and Inara pistols, Birdie's grenade and a pair of brass plated Sidkits.

I bought two from tyragbphoto on eBay

The castings require some cleanup and had some pinholing.
I thought it was a hair wide, compared to a real Enfield pistol.
BUT;
I think it is the most accurate overall and with a price of $35 plus shipping I feel that Scott's River bar pistol is the best choice out there.

I ground all the hardware off and replaced it with real stainless hardware.
I also replaced the trigger with a more accurate to an original one.
I think I made some improvements on the original casting, but I want to re-assert that the casting was a great starting point.

Hmm... can't seem to find him. Maybe he's not there any longer.

I bought two maidenhead pistols from him a while ago. They are as pennausamike described. I haven't seen tyragbphoto list anything for a while. But, I've seen him disappear temporarily from time to time. Hopefully he'll be back. I remember him telling me once that he was in poor health. I hope he is doing ok. You'd think he would be listing during the xmas season.

I did a search for his name on ebay... didn't turn up anything. If anyone has his e-mail addy, I'd be grateful if you could send it to me by PM or something. :)

Forgot these two. The resin one is a screen used stunt and the metal one has a 'working' trigger.

Looks like the soldier in the pic has a replica in hand.

There were several guns made for Showtime. The Firefly production bought Vera from Gibbons Entertainment Armory, who made them for that film, after several mods had been done, such as the unique flash suppressor. What you seen in the photo is most likely one of those original guns. (It is missing all the unique "Vera" parts.) There does seem to be a few differences between the Showtime guns- not surprising if they were to be used in different scenes/shots.

I have had contact with a guy who is planning to make some sort of functional replica with his Saiga, but I don't know how he's progressing. My mind boggles when I just start imagining the cost of doing actual functional parts!

the orignal Vera is in private hands.

Indeed- and on this side of the pond no less! (I have had a bit of contact with the owner- he's helped out a bit with confirming some details and the like.)

By the way... whatever happened to that...ahem... much hinted about website?

Looks like the soldier in the pic has a replica in hand. There are very subtle differences in the two guns you have pictured here, but the differences are there.

Nice to see some proper finger placement there...

also, i really like the overall design of this gun... going from a full size rifle and then the stock and barrel folding back to make a shorter carbine ....
this BASIC design COULD have some REAL WORLD functionality.
considering its probably a smooth bore barrel, might even work in real life...

did the Showtime rifle actually FIRE or just blanks?
