Firefly prop - Book's Lantern from ''WAR STORIES''

For some time now, I've been working on building a replica prop from Firefly.
It is the Lantern used by Book in the Cargo Bay while he was putting together some gear.
Easy enough to make.

Very cool. Was this a found parts build, 3D print, mix of both? I've always wanted to do some of the more obscure/random props from Firefly

Actually, Walmart and sometimes Home Depot - here in Jacksonville, FL.



Just a run of the mill, basic ''found item'' build.
Add the custom made top, handle, a few custom detail pieces, modified ribbed jelly jar lens, amber gel, paint and there ya go.
All that's left is to light it up

I decided to go with the LED lighting so that I can run my lantern either on batteries
( for portability) or 12v DC adapter.

I can make it brighter or dim it down as well.

There are two 9volt batteries in series (18 volts dc) running a white 12v LED strip.
The batteries are contained in the center of the globe/lens and can be easily changed.
I am also considering making the batteries rechargeable.
But for now there are 2 standard Duracell batteries.

I have to put aside this project to finish a new one.
So here is my Lantern at this point:
