Finn - Star Wars: The Force Awakens | Costume

Hey there everyone,
This is my second post on here. For Emerald City Comicon I'm wanting to go as Finn (mystery last name) from the new Star Wars movie coming out this year :) life size finn.jpg

He seems like a fairly simple build except two things:
1) His jacket
&
2) His gun

I saw an awesome build of his jacket on here, but I've done a fair bit of browsing on this site and I have yet to find anything on his blaster.

More or less, this post is just going to detail how I create Finn's outfit. Any advice, and assistance is welcome!

Did this for Dragoncon, I strongly recommend Magnoli's jacket :) I 3D printed the greebles myself and sell them as a full set!

For shoes I used a pair of brown leather vans and painted the soles black, I found a shirt with the correct weave pattern (but incorrect collar, I intend to get it changed before the premiere). The pants were a pair of scrubs I found with the correct pockets/seams. The saber is a ANH Luke ForceFX with a removable blade so I can tuck it in my jacket if desired like in the concept art.

Damn you killed it man... WOW. Great job mate.

That's a prime recommendation about Magnoli's... The quality and the accuracy is all there for sure... but I'm more getting this for a more "novel" use I suppose. So that price point is a bit high for me. My budget is really my worst enemy in this. Haha.

Finn's jacket is badass

Truth :cool

If you're not concerned with accuracy than just hop on ebay and browse through the brown leather jackets will you find one reasonably similar, IMO (disclaimer: I have yet to find anything even remotely similar other than Magnoli's). You can also try one of the Chinese cosplay houses but be warned you're giving them your money blindly since none of them have a prototype (and some of them are blatantly using Magnoli's photos).

saw a picture of you in your gear in some photos on tested.com from Dragoncon. Have to say, looks awesome man!

I agree with Strongbow though. The material does not seem the best. My plan so far is to get a leather jacket and modify it myself though. The idea right now is that I'll just paint the red portions with Deco acrylic paint. red.jpg

Here is the jacket I'll be getting

I know, I know... Not 100% accurate. But this is what I plan on doing to it:

Gonna be a hell of a lot cheaper than buying it outright. I will add the straps and etc for the lightsaber, but not too sure how I'm gonna do the little chest...flappy-thingy.

Sky-seller started out by stealing photos of our jacket for their site... not nice.

This has been 100% confirmed, Not only did they copy Indy's design, they straight up STOLE the pics right off his site. I'm not even sure that's legal. Do NOT buy from suck a shady seller. I went with Indy because his body of work and his reputation speak for themselves. I can't explain how excited I am to receive his jacket. I'm going to wear it everywhere!

Very strange... the zoom-in photo is not the product shown... kinda sketchy.
