Fiberglass & Acrylic Question

I have an acrylic piece that I want to strengthen up and was thinking putting down a layer or two of fiberglass resin, but am unsure if it will bond and/or destroy the acrylic? I'm pretty much a noob so any advice would be great.

My dome is relatively weak on the top....

Lightly sand the inside of the helmet and get some urethane resin. I recommend The Engineer Guy. Give them a call up and they can recommend the right stuff to use. If you so want you can also add fiberglass to the mix to increase strength even more.
