NICE. Out of curiosity, are there any reinforcing materials in the mask anywhere (e.g., wire in the tusks), or is it completely made from the sculpey?

Re: Female Skyrim Dovahkiin w.i.p

in the tusks i packed a tiny bit of tin foil an even smaller bit in the head crest , i was afraid to use wire for some reason although i know it is common other then that it is all sculptey ... it is a bit heavy but with proper head straps should be comfortable ..seeing through it is fine , it conforms to the face well

Re: Female Skyrim Dovahkiin w.i.p

That turned out well! I love the moody lighting on those last 2 photos, it really makes the mask look expressive.

Re: Female Skyrim Dovahkiin w.i.p

Save your paws! You can run the sculpey through a hand-crank pasta machine a few times to make it -much- softer. They run $20 and obscenely higher. Sorry I didn't catch you sooner!

That mask is a sight to behold. Looking forward to the paint up.

:thumbsup

Re: Female Skyrim Dovahkiin w.i.p

Very impressive... I love this game... Been singing The Age of Aggression for like 3 days! It always makes me happy to see a true gamer girl. For years I thought it was a myth perpetuated by the internets. This is sweet tho. It reminds me almost of the ancient nord armor in your drawing. But with scales.. And the color scheme is darker. Any particular set your going off of? Or just a mash up of appropriate themes?

thank you casey , i pretty much got a bunch of screencaps of different gear i liked and started sketching up things that would resemble my favorite aspects of them ...i came up with that design ... as i go along physically working with the fabric and materials random changes have been occurring in the design .. anything i find fitting really , the mask and helm is probably my main focus right now though ... getting them to look as good as possible and believable ...and lol i am guilty of singing random bard songs from the game while doing random cleaning around the house like a friggen weirdo

I think that's why your costumes come out so fantastic... In everything you do you throw yourself completely into it. So your project cannot help but be influenced by your personal flair, and that just works for you really really well.

Re: Female Skyrim Dovahkiin w.i.p

that is true :confused....lol you should, you sure your squirrel hands can take it..:)

lol that is because i naturally look like a homicidal maniac :/ thank you so much guys
i am real tempted to sculpt another ... i want one ...WANT

Re: Female Skyrim Dovahkiin w.i.p

Looking cool! Damn that's a big mask. Or you are a wee tiny lass, or both :lol

Can't wait to see it finished up and painted!

Also, ran into this today while out blowing way more money than I needed to be at the craft store :

It exists, and it's out in the wild. There is hope for us all!

YUSSS and the price is not too awful! one thing i fear with using a softner is how much it will make your clay droop and wilt where i did not have that problem.... i am a weird mutant .. i have tiney hands the mask is built for a small person ... me and my buddy steven are small for humans lol i am only 5 7 ...this mask would probably look stupid on a man face... oh man i really hope you make some sculptey projects ... im excited now (and it is hard NOT spending an obscene amount of money in the craft store)

Re: Female Skyrim Dovahkiin w.i.p

Next time I head to the store I need to buy some. I managed to take a pic of it today but not actually put it in the damned basket I was carrying around :facepalm

God help me, I am thinking of trying to make Azura's Star, but I might go the epoxy putty route on that instead, maybe quicksteel. Crystal pieces would be, well, crystal :lol

I really should have bought the softener today, because I am going to start in on a new sculpt later this week (not skyrim related though). Crap, guess that means I have to go back to the store and spend more cash and get more things :lol

Re: Female Skyrim Dovahkiin w.i.p

lol ... it is worth it , think of the money you would spend having someone else make and complete the stuff for you ...and you would not have the pride of knowing you built and completed it on your own
