Favorite NES game?

The SMB games of course.... I remember waiting in line for all SMB2 and SMB3 the day they came out. =)

BlasterMaster is awesome. Way at the top with my favs.

As far as other favorites:
Final Fantasy
Contra
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Mega Man 2 (I think this was my favorite of the NES Mega Man games)
Duck Tales
Little Nemo: The Dream Master
Maniac Mansion
Adventures of Lolo
Dr. Mario
Life Force
Snake Rattle and Roll
CastleVania Series
Blades of Steel
River City Ransom (I think this was the only game my sister and I used to co-play)

Still have my NES. Still works too. Unfortunately I only still have Final Fantasy as I was robbed about 8 years ago and they stole all my NES games. At least they missed the SNES games and I still have those!

Punh Out got me through the chicken pox in 1993. I still remember the code to get to Tyson. 007 363 5963 :)

AHH... Duck Tales was good.

MAniac mansion! Isn't that the one where the first run of cartridges allowed you to stick a hamster in a microwave??? I remember renting it 3-4 times before I found one that would let me! AWESOME!

And turtles... how could I forget??? Anyone remember the level near the end where you had to make an almost impossible jump?

Of course Castlevania ruled! "what a horrible night for a curse!" But Castlevania 4 Snes was my favorite.

Life force. Also awesome. :)

This past weekend I introduced my 12 year old nephew to the Atari 2600. He grew up of course on the Playstation 2 and the X-Box.

He was most amazed that 'You turn it on and it's ready to go. You don't have to wait for it to load!' Also, the graphics 'sucked'.

But we spent most of the time playing Super Mario Brothers on the NES. He loves it and so do I.

Man, I loved that little grey box. My oldest son is 4 and I recently restored my old Nintendo and gave it to him with a bunch of games as a gift. He *loves* Contra, only way I can beat it with him though is using the code.

No question.

SUPER MARIO BROS. 3

Ever wonder what it would be like to fly? That was my experience with SMB3. I was so enamored and accustomed by SMB and SMB2 (The American version) that I never even contemplated that Mario could fly, but when I was able to get Mario flying with his own power and have him jump into the air and not stop..... For me, it was the closest experience I ever got to being able to fly on my own. Mario was no longer grounded, and it was brilliant.

Contra.

I can still beat it without entering the konami code :)

I just bought it on the xbox live arcade. Its the arcade version but they left the konami code it but it stops you from getting any achievements. It beat my butt even with it. I remember being a bit disappointed by the NES version after playing in the arcade. This is a tough question as i liked so many games.

Probably now it's Final Fantasy but I hated RPGs when they first came out as i thought they took too long (now i want that long gameplay and mostly play RPGS). Back then i'd say I really didn't have a super favorite but Ducktails kept me entertained for a while. Anyone else here miss the old school Nintendo power? My buddies gave me all their back issues starting at issue 1 at one point and i quit getting it once the SNES went out and i moved to other systems. I remember them sending you the guide to Ninja Gaiden and final fantasy if you had a subscription. I now have most of these games on my PC lol. If i get a wii I'm raiding their online store to get some of these on there.

lol. True. After a while it drove me nuts and I gave up. Then they teamed them up with Double Dragon.

Solar Jetman was kind of addictive. Some of the first person point and click games were addictive too.

And turtles... how could I forget??? Anyone remember the level near the end where you had to make an almost impossible jump?

Ah yes......the stupid jump from moving platforms. I died SO many times there. Actually...I think I only ever won that game twice ever.

Also..since someone else mentioned Solar Jetman...that was a great game! I never owned it but I used to rent it all the time :)

Xevious - I was a member of the million point club in the arcade version, so jamming on it at home was heaven

Bible Buffet - The board is a rip off of Candyland with various food sections, Pizza land, bread land, dessert land etc. You spin, go forward etc, then enter a room and fight various food items, throwing your fork, knife, or spoons, or detonating bombs. The bible part comes from the pop quizzes in the game, you'd have to consult the game book for the bible based questions-I skipped that part, as it didn't effect the game. It's a strange game, but addictive.

Metroid hands down. I played it when I was 5 and it made me a fan to this day. I kept losing my save codes though so I never beat it until I was 17.:lol

Super Mario 3 gets second place. Those 2 games were something like 80% of the time I spent on my NES and I had lots of other great games.

I totally disagree with that review.

Ninja gaiden #7?

No blaster master?

Battletoads??? I DID beat that 2 player. :unsure
