Farscape Props

Oiling no. (the instructions for die, just said "Hot Water" for the sink method.) I did leave it in there for 30 minutes, though.

Does anyone have any pics of the short pulse rifle, or hand rifle, its a awesome piece and should have been used more. Im thinking of scratchbuilding a pulse rifle in the near future and if all goes as planned maybe a small run, just have to get all the demensions down

Which one? The original Scorpi version:

A run of Pulse rifles would be GREAT. I've often wondered way a no-one has done a run before now. I mean yes there is a licensed replica out there, but there are so many other version of the PR that could be done, and hey there is a licensed replica of the Pulse pistol too, but just look how many couples, nock-offs, and runs from scratch built versions, we see of those.

I was thinking of doing a run of these myself, but seeing as I have never cast anything before, and that I have way to many other projects on my hands right now, I would love to see someone else with more talent, and experience do it. :)

Are you thinking of just doing the cut down Pulse Rifles, or are you thinking of offering the full length ones, and leaving it up to the buyers if they want to cut it down for a Scorpy, or Xalax versions?

i think its the size, they are very big and bulky things to cast, would probably be best done as a skin layer of resin then filled with expanding foam.

That's a very good point, and a great idea. If not expanding foam, If I recall, Birdie used a filler with the resin, he used to make the stock for the one he made for himself years ago. (I for get what it was called, but I think he said it was cheep, and you could mix it 1 to 1, with the resin, to make it go further. ) Either way, might help to keep the weight down. (I personally like a heavy prop, but I know a lot of folks like their gun props to be light weight for trooping, and i could live with it if they where done lighter.)

The hard part on the buy end, is weather or not, I'll be able to afford one. (because a lot, but not all, the replicas I've seen of that size tend to be out of my price range.) and then of course, if I can afford it, stopping myself from buying more then one. :lol Hey, there are so many versions, it's hard to pick just one, if you baut more then one base Pulse riffle you could do all the versions you like. (though I think I'll try to pick just one, do to finances, and lack of space for a PR arsenal. )

Supersoaker SC 400, guards weapons in "Coup by Clam" and "Liars, Guns and Money":
Bountyguns85.jpg

Additional pics: http://s136.photobucket.com/albums/q185/jackdoud/Farscape/Random Guns/Coup by Clam - Shadow Depot/

I can't decide witch version of this gun to do. I managed to buy one of the SC-400 supersoakers last month, and I've started picking at it.

I like the over all look of the "Coup by clam" version, but I like the "Liars Guns and Money" episodes much better, and that version of the gun isn't bad looking either. (though the "Coup by Clam" version would be much easier to do.)

Hers's a brake down, of what it looks like they did for each version.

The "Liars, Guns, and Money" version.

In addition to JackDoub's great caps, there is a great pic of this version of the gun, at MyProps. com (here's a link to it. http://www.yourprops.com/view_item.php?movie_prop=20313 )

Ok, it looks like they took off the Tank that comes on the water gun, and replaced it with an aluminum canister/water bottle. (Does anyone know where to get one of those aluminum water bottles in the proper size?)

They also removed the front grip/pump handle, and replaced it, and the original barrel of the water gun, with pieces of pipe, with two slots cut into each side, near the front end, of both of these new "barrels". The top barrel (the one that replaced the water guns original barrel) Looks to be a aged/weathered copper, and it very well could be just some copper pipe, cut down, and fancied up with the slots near the front end. The bottom barrel looks to be more silvery, But it looks to me, to just be painted that way. (I will probably, just use copper pipe for both.)

There is a large fin added to the top forward part of the gun, with a small bracket on both sides to hold it in place.

They added a stock to the back end. It's pretty cool looking, and I think it could easly be make out of cut pieces of sheet styrene.

It almost looks like there is something like a piece of screen, or mesh, in the oval cut outs, on either side of the aluminum bottle, but I could be wrong. It just looks like the texture is different there.

That, and a cool new paint job, seems to be about it.

The "Coup by Clam" version.

Looks to be one of the "Liars Guns, and Money" Guard guns, with just stock removed and in the two wholes on each side, were the stock was bolted on, there looks to be............bolts. (or some other kind of domed hemispheres, like buttons, or furniture tacks. )

They removed the fin they added to the water gun for "Liars, Guns, and Money." And, put on 5 small domed pieces. (again buttons, or hemispheric Domes, might work)

They didn't bother filling most of the screw holes on the water gun. You can clearly see the holes, in the first pic in JD's Photobucket album for this prop. ( think it's fare to assume, the same is true for the "Liars, Guns, and Money" version, since it seems to be the same base gun for both props.)

It also looks like they may have removed the orange piece at the back end of the original water gun, for this version. I only suspect that they did this, because that spot on the prop looks to be a little shorter, and it seems to have a groove that goes all the way around it. Whereas the part that would have originally been there looks a little longer, and has some little cubby things one it (think of a Luke ROTJ lightsaber pommel, well it looks something like that.). (This part my be missing form the "Liars, Guns, and Money" version too, I don't know, since the stock kind of covers it up, in most pics.

Well That's what I've figured out so fare. Thoughts? comments? suggestions? etc?

I'm partial to the LGM version as well. The Yourprops page says the aluminum bottle was a hairspray bottle which I could belive with all the makeup they went through on the show. I always just assumed it was another one of the aluminum bottles they had everywhere on the set.

Super Soaker XP70:

Base gun for the chronite injector that armed the bombs in the transport pod that blew up Scorpi's gammak base in the last episode of Season 1.

I picked up a XP70 for .50$ at the Thrift store yesterday. :) (now I can make that really ugly injector thingy. :lol)

Nice! I wound up ordering a knock-off version from the UK for $6. One of these days I'll actually finish some of my Farscape props. :rolleyes

If you want another easy one to pick up, one of the tools they used on Talyn:

Is just a standard solder sucker used for desoldering electronics:

I've been using one from Radioshack for years before realizing it was used on Farscape though mine is blue.

I'm having some trouble finding the correct water battle (or hair spray can) for the Liars, Guns and Money, Guards gun.

I've sized up the pic from "My Props" and a few others, to about the same size as the actual gun, to get an idea of the size of the add ones. I was able to determent the size of the added barrels etc. from doing this.

The added barrels are exactly the diameter of a "Copper 3/4" repair pipe" These are short sections of copper pipe that fight over standard "3/4 inch copper pipe". (I use quotes because the outer diameter of all these pipes is not actually 3/4" that's just what they are called. ) Or if you don't mind a cope little tinny dimples, you could save a few bucks and just by a couple "copper 3/4 inch pipe couplings". (the repair pipe runs about $7. you can get 2 couplings for about $1.60 at Lowes.)

The top barrel is right round 1.5" long (just the add on part, that's not counting the little bit of orange base from the original water pistol barrel.), and the bottom barrel is right around 1" long.

Anyways, the point is, I tried scalling the bottle, and it doesn't make since. It clearly a little more narrow then the original plastic tank that comes on the water gun. In all the scaled up pics I have it comes out to right around 2" in diameter. However, when I put a 2" tank in there, it looks so, so, from top to bottom, but it looks way off side to side. I mean, you can see in the pics of the actual prop, that there is quite a bit of space between the aluminum bottle, and the top part of the fram created by the water gun. And, in some pics you can clearly see some space between the bottle, and the bottom of the space it's in. However in all the pics I've seen, there doesn't look to be that much space between the sides of the space, and the bottle. (I mean there is more then there was with the original tank, but not that much more.) I don't know if I'm saying any of this right, but in short, I need to figure out what diamitor bottle to get, and where to get it, see as how, every store I've gone too, doesn't carry that style any more, and ebay wants way too much for an aluminum bottle. (that may, or may not fight.)

What I currently have(and i know i have a Crichton Badge somewhere...):

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of paint did you use on that vid chep reader? It looks almost textured. Also, what was the part you used for that jack on the back side where the cord used to be?
Ok, there were 3 props made from 2 different Micro-pipette fillers.

First is the Peacekeeper "drug injector" used to give a killshot and a revival shot:

PDVD_001.jpg

More pics: http://s136.photobucket.com/albums/q185/jackdoud/Farscape/Moya%20Tools/Killshot/

Only additions are the glass ampule (anyone know where to get those?) a micropipette on the end and a black paint job. Here's the one I have which seems pretty close:

Next is the tissue injector which is just the drug injector repainted:

Finally there's the Moya version drug injector:

PDVD_047.jpg

More pics: http://s136.photobucket.com/albums/q185/jackdoud/Farscape/Moya%20Tools/Drug%20Injector/

This looks to just be painted blue with no other modifications. I have one that's close enough for me:

IMG_6880.jpg

I've also got 4-5 of these if anyone's interested though they're not accurate to either style:

Anyone seen any good Micro-pipette lately? I've seen a few on ebay, but they were going for quite a bit, and since this is kind of a minor prop, I really odn't want to spend much on it.
Here's all my season 1-2 holster pics:

Not only was this knife used in this episode, and as Aeryns knife in "look at the princes." (or one just like it) I think it was Rorfs knife in "'till the blood runs clear" I was watching it today, and it looks (to me anyways) like the same modified blade, and I think they just rapped the handle with leather strips.

I'm still working one mine. I tried dieing it, but the water wasn't hot enough. Then I tried it a second time, and the water was too hot, and there wasn't enough room for the knife to move, so the rubber parts were damaged a bit. (some small pitting here and there, etc.) I tried dieing again, and it too all most all over, except one small part, I tried colloring with a sharpy. I'm either going to leave it the way it is, paint it with bumper paint, or just by another knife and start over. I don't know yet.

I'm still pugging way at my other projects. I still can't find a bottle/tank to work with my super soaker for the LGM guards gun. :(

It was also used by Durka in "A Clockwork Nebari" when he took over the command deck.

Comm links what's correct, and what is not.

Here are two pics of the screen used comm they had up for auction a couple of years ago. (at least the auction said it was screen used.)

I have a few of Pilot's resin comes, and I love them, but I think they may be a little over size, and if the pic above really is of s creen used version, then the pattern in Pilot's comes are off too. (no offence.)

It looks like the screen pattern is more like a brick pattern in the pics above.

I've seen a lot of other replics (I even have a few) but most either seem off, in either size, or shape, and the screen/mesh is always off. (again, if the pics above are actually a screen used prop.)

Though I have to say, the hand made ones JackDoud has up on his site do look really good. :)

Thanks for the pics, since I just bought the resin comms from ya! :lol

No offense taken at all! The ones I made were never meant to be a completely screen-accurate item. The outline was taken from a UK-released replica (came with one of the DVD sets, I think - Birdie helped with that part) and the center pattern was just a particular Plastruct textured plastic found by lonepigeon that we all agreed looked good. I think I made the original molding master in about an hour and a half. It really was kind of a hack job, feel free to criticize it all you want. :cool

Hard to believe it's been almost 7 years since the first one popped out of the mold. I think I still have some of that textured plastic left over too. :lol
