Re: Warehouse 13 Props Research Thread - Farnsworth, Tesla Gun...

DS,
I may have missed this but which model number knob is the correct one?

I just ordered a couple boxes.

Re: Warehouse 13 Props Research Thread - Farnsworth, Tesla Gun...

heres my mockup so far, i think ive got the inner dimensions right. Made a few adjustements to placement of the bottom stuff after this shot, moved it all up more. Getting there...

Ive noticed looking at the shots on page 12 again, that they didnt quite have the faceplate in there level, especially the Wired article shot, it looks quite crooked.

Re: Warehouse 13 Props Research Thread - Farnsworth, Tesla Gun...

Can anyone tell.

Is there something in that clear hemisphere that is the "Camera Lens" or is there a hole behind it giving an odd reflection or is it just bubbles in the clear bit.

BTW

http://www.craftics.com/index.cfm

has a nice selection of clear plastic bits including hemispheres in many sizes.

yeah ive thought about that, it doesnt seem to simply be a clear crystal, theres something else going on behind or inside of it, but its hard to tell..

Re: Warehouse 13 Props Research Thread - Farnsworth, Tesla Gun...

Great thread, I was just going to post something on this. I have a friend that restores old radios etc. I'll send him the pic and see if he has any info on the middle Brown bakelight switch

Re: Warehouse 13 Props Research Thread - Farnsworth, Tesla Gun...

Looks to have a white (?) backing in most of the pix a few pages back.
(oops posted late):$

Tap Plastics also carries acrylic hemispheres.
Probably all from the same maker.

Re: Warehouse 13 Props Research Thread - Farnsworth, Tesla Gun...

while staring at these pictures all too often, ive noticed some more variation among the props...including that white crystal.

The Wired Article Farnsworth is quite different from the others shown, the weathering in the letters etc seems to actualyl be lighter than the rest, where the other props are darker, this is seen in my screencap and the wired article, so i dont think its lighting.

Also, that same lighter prop has a crystal that looks entirely white, where the others you can see something black inside or behind it, either that or its just a cleaner clear and its freflecting more than the duller looking one.

*Edited the first post to include all the screenshots for ease of reference, since this thread is getting quite long :p

Display Test #23

Using a "Blind Spot" mirror for the Display gives you a very nice effect if you always want to see yourself on the Farnsworth.:lol

Now if I could just make it reflect in Black and White.<g>
I'd call it the "Test" mode and show it off!

Your right.
Looks like they filled in the detail with white.
Maybe it didn't pick up well and they went over it with black so you could see the detail.

That lens looks like the darker parts are just reflections and shadows.

No one said you can't put in some sort of lens behind it.;)

Re: Warehouse 13 Props Research Thread - Farnsworth, Tesla Gun...

I'm quite sure I have the correct center brown knob here. It has a flange, but I believe that's just below the surface in the original.

id be in for a faceplate, maybe if the knob isnt found we can get someone to make some casts?

Your knob is the same diameter as the black one though in this pic of the prop it is smaller but it could be the camera angle. What brand is yours?

It has no indication of a brand. Here's another pic from the top. It's only 90% of the diameter of the black one; don't let the flange throw you off.
