Farnsworth Discussion

Re: Warehouse 13 Prop Research - The Farnsworth

either way, i think it comes to preference.

Looking at all the images on the first page of this thread all but 2 shots show it grey and one of those shots of it black are from the station break segment.

Agreed, on both accounts, especially on the preference.

I took some time to peruse all of the caps I have and other than "station break" shots I'm only seeing gray screens. Even in background shots where they wouldn't bother with FX.

Season 1, last episode.

Now, in Season 2, I've seen several instances of both gray and black. Here's one of a background shot in black, or at least dark gray. Maybe one or more was modified at some time early in the second season.

Notice it's the same old stalwart with the big dent in the lid that just keeps showing up in shots. You'd think they would have knocked out the dent a bit.

Re: Warehouse 13 Prop Research - The Farnsworth

and I know you've been just sitting holding it and stroking it and thinking "nice shiny new box". It's always good when the main part of something turns up and you have to ponder what to do next.

:lol That is soooo true!!! I can't stop picking it up at the moment.....I've got all the info I need for the build, so just need to tackle the faceplate.

Re: Warehouse 13 Prop Research - The Farnsworth

It took Wheatley over a month to deliver my boxes. Their customer service was horrible, it took 3 - 4 days to get them to reply to e-mails (and that was after sending multiple e-mails).

Re: Warehouse 13 Prop Research - The Farnsworth

Sorry to hear it took that long for you. I gotta admit that I was pleasantly suprised at how quick the delivery on mine was, even for post in the UK.

Took mine over a month as well, sad really since I have gotten other things from the UK and Europe in less than a week.

Re: Warehouse 13 Prop Research - The Farnsworth

Madcap, did you order yours from the Chinese ebay seller that was linked in this thread? I did and mine took about two weeks but did get here. If it was someone else I can't help you, but if it was that company then it's probably just held up in customs.
Aye, that's the one. Good to know; with their feedback I wasn't too worried about it not being sent, just hoped it would be here by now.

Re: Warehouse 13 Prop Research - The Farnsworth

I got my Wheatley box in 11 days from when I got confirmation of payment. I guess it's very hit-or-miss with them.

Re: Warehouse 13 Prop Research - The Farnsworth

I saved a package from mine:
Philmore, Chassis MT DC Jack NO. 311 JAPAN is what I got from Punhulk, they look great!

Re: Warehouse 13 Prop Research - The Farnsworth

just curious if anyone has looked into getting the red light flashing with the farnsworth ring working on theirs. I'd ideally like to get that on mine down the line but I gotta worry about getting the rest of it together first (box, both knobs, and crystal at this point. Then of course putting it all together and paint).

Re: Warehouse 13 Prop Research - The Farnsworth

I believe someone said the red light in the audio device could be positioned underneath the red cap, but I haven't gotten everything yet to test it out.

Right now I've got everything but the audio device, side jacks, faceplate, and video screen. I've got a couple leads on the faceplate but nothing certain yet, and will probably just be checking toys and clock faces for the screen.

Re: Warehouse 13 Prop Research - The Farnsworth

Did anyone figure out the screen dome yet, I've seen a couple of different things pop up in the thread but I havent seen a definitive answer.

Re: Warehouse 13 Prop Research - The Farnsworth

Interceptor where did your clear screen come from. It doesn't look like one vac formed ones many of us are using.

A paper screen behind the lens, held with the brass nails and a bit of rubber band to keep it snug. Paint the paper any color you want, and you can add the electronics later!

Re: Warehouse 13 Prop Research - The Farnsworth

It's more likely issues with the postal service of one country or the other. I'm in Australia and I've had stuff sent from the USofA that arrived really quickly (not sent by any sort of priority post) and other stuff that took ages including one item that took 25 days after posting before it even left the US. I've had stuff sent from the UK that took less than a week and other stuff that took nearly a month. I think my Wheatley boxes took about 10-14 days to come from the UK.

One item bought on Ebay hadn't arrived from the UK after 4 weeks so I contacted the seller and she sent another which arrived in 7 days along with the first one. (both on the same day)

Re: Warehouse 13 Prop Research - The Farnsworth

There was no definitive answer. Many of used vacuum formed ones made by a RPF member. Others have used the domes from tap/push lights, if you can one the right size. I found a Winnie the Pooh night light that was about right and usable in a pinch though the dome is higher than I'd like. There was also a couple of other places people had found something usable.

I think the ones used on the real prop were probably vac formed as well by the prop people. That way they can make any number of them they might need to paint in different ways or if they get damaged. A couple of the props are already showing signs of being handled a bit roughly.

I can only assume that QMx is vac forming its screens as well unless they know something we don't and I doubt they'll tell us.

Hi Peter, Yes, it's a vac form and was aquired here on the forum. I've been looking for another in case the mood hits to build Claudia's, but nothing else has popped up. I'm having better luck with the Tesla gun!
Cheers, Jeff
