Farnsworth Discussion

Re: Warehouse 13 Prop Research - The Farnsworth

Did anyone find a reliable source for the button.
The places I looked at are out of stock or you have to contact them for a price quote.

I believe this is it (7th one down)-

Model SWIT 202 (I got a model 201, but I believe the only difference is the circuitry). From the specs on this site it says the mounting hole is .375, which matches the same size as mine....WHich probably means the head is the same size.

Probably best to call and get more info.

Re: Warehouse 13 Prop Research - The Farnsworth

Are you guys mounting the left and middle knob to actual dials, or attaching them another way? I just realized all I have are knobs and no 'posts'... :rolleyes so I thought I'd ask... (Sorry if it's mentioned in the thread somewhere, it's gotten kind of large...)

I believe Kylash came up with a mounting system by using a screw, and putting a spring on the stem to maintain pressure on the knob. It's somehwere in this thread.

Re: Warehouse 13 Prop Research - The Farnsworth

I just got my 'middle knobs' in, and noticed from the invoice they are made by Davies Molding Co. #1910 found on this page:
http://www.daviesmolding.com/standard-products/plastic-knobs/skirted-knob/default.html
They seem to be a bulk-order type place, but they will special order in almost any color. I guess depending on cost, they could probably make bakelite colored ones if we really wanted brown plastic knobs... They might even be able to easily make them without the skirt, not sure about that...

Probably would have to order 100 or something though...

Looks like 201 is thicker (looks like there's one extra layer to the switch mechanism). Might not matter, but there seems to be limited space between the brass plate and the bottom of the case...

wow, i want 2! Btw, what did you use for your small rivets around the screen? The nails i had are too thick.

Re: Warehouse 13 Prop Research - The Farnsworth

I used some small brass nails that I had laying around. I'll look tonight, I still have the little package they came in.

So looks like we are up to 9 so far. 6 more and we can do these.

Ok guys, here is the lense that I had a guy do for me. I think it looks awesome. SUPER clear and would allow you to either paint it grey or do "see-through" screens. He said he'd need to get 15 people to commit before doing them. $8 shipped in the US.

This is how it looks in mine painted with Classic gray on the backside.
