Fantastic Voyage

1) I am interested in the history, construction and dimensions of two props that were used in the 1966 movie 'Fantastic Voyage' and which then appeared in numerous productions including the movie 'Our Man Flint' (1966) and the Irwin Allen sf tv series:

a) hexagonal units that made up the miniaturizing platform

b) metal consoles

Unfortunately there seems to be very little available information. I have heard that the consoles were either built by an engineering firm or yet again reused 2nd. hand units - like the SAGE computer panels that dominated such shows as 'The Time Tunnel'.

2) In addition I am also trying to find out about the miniaturizing/mission control/operating room/control tower set that later appeared in other productions (actually re-purposed twice in 'Our Man Flint') - ie. photos. information, and blueprints.

Thanks in advance for any help provided,

I gather that several of the metal consoles have been sold over the years in auctions and this is going to happen again very shortly:

Julien's Auctions - HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS: DANGER, DISASTER & DISCO - June 12-14 2024

June 12th, 7:00PM PDT
Session 1: Lots 1-32

June 13th, 10:00AM PDT
Session 2: Lots 33-607

June 14th, 10:00AM PDT
Session 3: Lots 608-1225

In particular:

Lot #68 IRWIN ALLEN | "LOST IN SPACE" "THE TIME TUNNEL" AND "CITY BENEATH THE SEA" CONTROL STATION WITH PHOTO, BOOK, AND DVD

Reserve not met
Current bid
$3,000(4 bids)
ESTIMATE:$10,000 - $20,000
STARTING BID:$2,500

Since this is Lot 68 it will be sold on the 2nd day (on the 13th).

So what's the point of mentioning this since I have no intention of bidding for it because even if I could afford it AND the auction premium AND the shipping AND then finding a location to put it?

But if one was considering building a 3d model of this console and it's various faces then the mostly closeup high resolution photographs that appear on the web page showing off this item are a MASSIVE research treasure trove - 74 to be exact!
