Fallout universe fan thread

Yeah a few things i'm not fond of. I do like all the types of ammo the brought back. I still wish bloody mess was a perk you got from the start, i did choose the one were you see all the odd stuff in the wastelands.

I picked the wildland perk as well, but aside from seeing scorpions everywhere, I have yet to see anything odd.

COnsidering some of the things you ran into during the original 2 games as random encounters i'm sure something strange will happen.

Without posting spoilers, there's a hotel room in Novac you get for doing a certain quest. That's the first place I've found to store my crap in.

Yeah i got that one. I just hit level 20 and unlocked all the locations on the map and let's just say there is a ton to do. I haven't even gotten into new vegas yet lol. I'd love to see some props from the game like the Legion's coins, the NCR money you see during load screens, maybe even the postcard you see for the rocket company.

Grr! Still waiting for my collector's edition to come in the mail! I'll be done with all the bonus features on the Alien Anthology before I get to start the game.

p.s. My fallout gal is going Caravan pack! :)

This game is by far way better than Fallout 3. Funny thing is there is actually a reference to places in F3 in the game, i don't have the entire story as it is a long running quest. I wish they wouldn't limit your level to 20 yet keep giving you exp. I haven't even gotten to half the places on the map. I'm thinking of starting at the bottom and working my way up. Some of these new critters in the game are tough even with advanced weapons x.x
I'm hoping someone on here makes some resin kits of the robots from the game

Yeah, the giant rad scorpions are not even fazed by anything I have available(Still around level 8) I was watching the Giant Bomb quick look and I was amazed at how many "places" there are.

Hot Tip: If you are still low level, Do Not **** off Ceasers Legion. I can't step outside without gettting hassled.

lol. I'm cheating the first time through by playing on easy and even then i've gotten my butt handed to me. Those scorpions are no joke even on the wimpy setting and neither are the security robots and the robbie the robot looking ones. The gutsy/handy ones are pretty easy. I even noticed the soundtrack has music from the first two games on it. Its fun listening to Wayne Newton as mr new vegas as he plays Dean Martin music as you wipe out the enemy lol.
I still don't know why they didn't get the rights to some of the songs on the Atomic Platters CD collection. It even has original civil defense broadcasts and songs such as "Love that bomb" which was a promo for Dr Strangelove back in '62. I figure they got their sense of humor in the game series from the film so be fitting to have the songs.

As for New Vegas voice acting.... Odo (Mr. House)!!!!

I complained about all the troubles I had with the PC version in another thread, but I'm really enjoying the game itself. Hardcore mode rules!

Hey Guys:
I have fallout 3 (Got it on original release, the collectors edition with the lunchbox and pip-boy [I actually use the lunchbox :p])... But I never got any of the DLC because I never fully explored the game or liked my character until my most recent playthrough.

If I'm gonna spend 50 'caps', should I go ahead and get New Vegas? Or explore Fallout 3 further and get the DLC.
I guess... does the DLC from Fallout 3 add anything to New Vegas? Or should I consider it an entirely different experience.
Just want to know which direction I should pursue first. :)..... Currently being completely pre-occupied with REACH anyway :p

The DLCs are almost new games with new lands to explore (one partially takes place in the game space you already have with the main game - the others are completely new locations). I loved seeing how other places fared.
Plus, Mothership Zeta is worth the price of admission alone.

IMHO, Fallout 3 GOTY edition is worth upwards of $250 (seriously - also, if you get the PC edition, there's mods/add-ons galore!) - I got that much enjoyment out of it.

Fallout New Vegas is basically another Fallout 3 DLC, but with a larger story and more space to cover. Except for the location (and story), there's not a lot that's hugely different from Fallout 3. The major change is the Hardcore mode which makes the game more realistic (i.e. Stimpacks don't just restore health and repair limbs, it takes time to work and it doesn't repair limbs... also you have to drink water and eat otherwise you die... stuff like that).

All-in-all, if I had to choose between New Vegas and GOTY F3, I would personally go for GOTY F3 (and wait for New Vegas GOTY :lol ).

Word of advice: don't go into the south east part of the map east of the ranger station at the bottom unless you're high level and packing alot of heat and or a ton of plasma grenades. Also has anyone taken that perk at the start where you are supposed to see random and odd things? I only had it happen twice: you see vault boy's face at the botom of the screen with a confused expression and you get an audio cue like its from an old scifi movie. The first one was i found a body in a fridge and the other is a cave i found. Not sure what's so strange about either. Hoping the guide says somethign when i get it.
Here's something thing else: is it just radiation that causes ghouls or the fact that everyone in the fallout universe has been exposed to FEV? If it was radiation there'd be ghouls galore. I think its a mix of genetics, FEV exposure (folks were exposed to it and other "super virus" prior to the war according to canon) and the radiation. the radiation kickstarts the fev to regenerate their bodies and make them nearly immortal. What do you guys think?
Man fallout would make a great book and short story series, there are so many sad stories that could be written: tales of surviving the war, of loss and rebuilding. They need to expand the franchise like Blizzard did with WOW and starcraft. Then again before bethesda took over there was to be a table top RPG for fallout but it got canned.

No, the FEV virus makes Super Mutants. I think it's just that there's levels of Radiation Exposure.

For example:
Level 1: Minor Radiation exposure (short term)
Level 2: Major Radiation exposure (short term - quick)
Level 3: Lethal Radiation exposure (death)
Level 4: Long term radiation exposure (minor - sickness)
Level 5: Long term radiation exposure (major - ghoulification)
Level 6: Long term continual radiation exposure (minor - 'rabid' ghoul)
Level 7: Long term continual radiation exposure (major - Glowing One)

As far as them being everywhere, I suppose it depends on where you look. In Fallout 3 (DC), there were quite a few - others, who weren't affected, lived in vaults, caves, subways or were otherwise protected.

The one thing I don't understand is Rivet City. If that thing was anywhere NEAR a source of radiation, it would be like a magnet for radiation!!

As far as the Wilderness perk in Vegas, I didn't take it (at least the first go-round) because I wanted to play through the game 'normally'. If/when I go through it again (i.e. to be a total bad guy or something) I make take it. I notice, though, that I only get perks every two levels up. Weird.

And the guy in the fridge? Indiana Jones. Seriously!
Also, keep an eye out for Holy Hand Grenades! There's actually a sign that says something like "Count to 5 3 to blow your enemy to smithereens!" ...and the 5 is crossed out.

Anybody find any aliens yet?

lol. I was thinking that it was Indy at first too, i wish they'd given you a full outfit instead of just his hat. Nope no aliens yet. I think that perk just makes finding these random item more common. I'm still not sure why the music cue went off in a cave full of mutant rats though. I'm glad the monty python stuff is back, finding that knights who say Ni was great in the first one. I'm waiting to see if Dr who is in this one too. No signs of aliens but i did find a copy of moira's wasteland survival guide from F3. There are so many places on the map to explore even if they're tiny little events that its mind boggling compared to the last game.

I found one so far. I was wrong level 20 isn't the cap. I'm nearly level 24 and still going. I'm betting level 30 is the max until they release the first DLC. I can't see how much more than can add in a dlc unless you go down to california and explore the areas from the first two games which would be cool. I do like how they made fallout tactics semi-canon by admitting that the BOS are in the chicago area.

Tell you what the enemy strength is really different on this game. giant scorpions are like tanks yet the nightkin are pretty easy to kill and forget about the robots they're way harder than before even with me playing easy. Not to mention you get gangs of like 4 of them at once. though hollow points do more damage to robots than the AP rounds and i'm not sure why. I'm also curious why the BOS here has the t51b armor yet the bos in DC had the older model from before the 51b. i can understand that they'd have a bit of everything, which explains why the guns on the east and west coast are different, but if you're sending someone out to a wild territory wouldn't it make sense to give them the best armor you have?
then again the elder in DC was on the leadership's craplist so maybe they gave him this stuff to kill him off lol

Yep, another Fallout fan here. I actually never thought much of the games, then I played Fallout 3. Yeah, been playing it since. Can't wait to get New Vegas. Unfortunately New Vegas has to wait until Assassins Creed Brotherhood. Been a die hard AC fan from the start.
