Fallout universe fan thread

Yeah that's what i thought too but it seems like nobody can decide how much of tactics is canon. Is there anything about Van Buren that is canon since it wasn't made? I know that the chicago brotherhood were mentioned in F3 but the real world guns and humvees kinda threw everyone since they didn't fit into the universe at all.

I have my copy of FO:NV on pre-order.:thumbsup My one regret was not picking up a Pip Boy 3000 Kit when someone was offering them in the junk yard looked amazing.:unsure

Last I talked to him he was thinking of doing another run at some point but i haven't seen him on lately. I may end up having to gut my pipboy and redoing it x.x

I'm on the fence about Brotherhood.

Don't be on the fence. Jump off and run away as far as possible. Take the opening narration for instance. This is the FIRST thing that is said. Here's a hint. The game takes place in the year 2208.

"I was born after the bombs fell"

Note that this character is neither a mutant or a ghoul, so her age would put her around 96 years old in this game AT THE EARLIEST!

And let's not forget about the game's name sake. Brotherhood of Steel.

"The Brotherhood is the law, or the closest thing to the law that anyone's seen in a long time."

Yeah, they're lawful in the sense that they don't take part in any village, hub or city that has law issues. Heck, just by expressing an interest in joining the Brotherhood will likely have them sending you to a death trap for laughs! In fact, in Fallout 3, the leader of the Brotherhood of Steel in the Washington area had a lot of his soldiers abandon him just because he took part in aiding the people of the waste land. The Brotherhood of Steel is NOT a lawful force! They are a self-sustained group who act only to preserve technolog and the progress of humanity. As Lyons says, "It's not hard to figure out how to create a new human, but it is hard to create an A51 Pulse Rifle".

This game SUCKS. It adds nothing to the fallout lore, it contradicts everything and it doesn't have any of the crucial elements that make up a Fallout game.

True. That's why i refer to it as an alternate timeline. Plus the controls were odd and the run and shoot style wasn't good. I did like the character design and the opening movie (plus the narrator's voice is cool). It had alot of potential which is a shame. Interplay just dropped the ball.

He's also done a ton of other stuff, i remember he did some V/O work on UFO specials on history channel and one about the 2012 prophesies way back in the mid 90s.

I was surprised by the voice talent the series has gotten over the years. in the first one you had him, richard moll, richard dean anderson, charlie adler and a few others. Then you started getting other voice actors and with F3 you had Liam Neison and Malcolm McDowell. Sorry my spelling is off today. And we can't forget Ron Perlman narrating. Also R Lee Ermie in Tactics. Go with fallout 3. Reach is still gonna be too pricey and really is a short game.

Don't forget Kieth David, Tony Shalhoub, Clancy Brown, Dwight Schultz, Michael Dorn, Kurtwood Smith, and Vegas will feature:

Danny Trejo
Felicia Day
Kris Kristofferson
William Sadler
Matthew Perry

and, of course, Wayne Newton.

lol. Dang Wayne survived the apocalypse. I can't wait for the soundtrack. I can't believe i forgot clancy brown. I've never heard of half the people in vegas though i may know their work.

IMDB doesn't show Tony Todd as dead.

As far as the universe, I think there's so much potential in this franchise, that if it's done well, it could go on for a long time.

Supposedly Vault Tech wasn't just selling to the US so there could be entire adventures in Europe plus they originally had a space station/moon base written into the history of the game universe.

Dangit. It's Tony JAY. God, how did I screw that up. Although Tony Todd is himself an excellent actor in many parts. Come on, how can anyone forget "The Visitor" from Deep Space Nine?

Tony Jay was the backbone of every evil voice in existence from his small part in Sleeping Beauty (I LOVE it!) to Frollo in the Hunchback of Notre Dame. And when he wasn't voicing characters of the wasteland, he was playing the most wicked, most scariest and most sinister character to ever bestow a children's network! That's right. I'm talking about Dr. Lipschitz!

Ok. Best Buy failed to have the PS3 collector's edition, all the game stops didn't have the collector's edition and even Bullmoose didn't have the collector's edition. I'm getting it online. Bye-bye mercenary/classic packs. Oh well. It's not like it's a major loss.

Ten to one those packs will be DLC items you can buy. My copy from amazon actually shipped yesterday and will be here on the 23rd or so. apparently they had them packed and ready to go. Fine by me as the site said they wouldn't start shipping until the 23rd adn i even got free shipping lol.

Anybody got first impressions on New Vegas yet or the contents of the collectors edition? I'm not allowed to get it until Christmas so I'm excited to see what folks think before the big reviewers start weighing in.

What mods would people recommend? I'm replaying the game now and would love some suggestions.
