Fallout universe fan thread

I haven't seen one so this can be where Fallout nerds gather. Any fallout game is welcome, even tactics and BOS and the table top pen 'n paper game. Also feel free to post your Fallout art and other stuff here. I'll post pics of my collection asap.
I want to know why there is no fan films for the franchise. Its 13 years old and still no fan films or fan animations or anything. So who is getting Fallout: New Vegas? While i'm not a big fan of how Bethesda's changed the weapons and how they got the rights to the Fallout property i'm glad to see some of the original makers of fallout 2 are making this game.
I have the deluxe box set reserved via amazon and i will soon begin my search for Fallout: NV swag as i've got nearly all the freebies from Fallout 3 in my collection.

lol. FA: Fallout Anonymous. I wish they'd release the originals on the xbox. Especially now that windows 7 hates old games.

Oh, yeah. Fallout fan right here. Unfortunately I don't have any fan art, but I do remember contemplating making a stim pack out of toy syringes.

While Bethesda is certainly shady, I was very impressed by their work on Fallout 3, especially in keeping the history of events from the previous games intact. I truly got the impression that these guys loved the series and did a lot of research in getting the game right. My only issue with the game was that it was buggy as %&(#*@#!!!!!!!!! Not one day would go by where I didn't need restart my PS3. I hope that New Vegas doesn't fall in that category.

And I certainly will be picking up New Vegas. Why they didn't call it Fallout 4 is beyond me since they're using the same strategy that Fallout 2 used. Use the same engine, make slight improvements and throw in a casino land setting (Fallout 2: New Reno, Fallout NV: New Vegas). Plus, both Fallout 2 and Fallout NV have Marcus voiced by Michael Dorn. YES!

My biggest issue at the moment is deciding what pre-order pack to get. So far the top candidates are the Mercenary Pack and the Classic Pack. I've reserved copies at both Best Buy and Game Stop. If Best Buy has the collector's edition, i'll be getting it there. If not, I'll be getting the classic pack from Game Stop.

A pity since I've mastered handling poker chips since I saw Casino Royale.

lol. I just went for the collector's edition considering how much i spent getting all the fallout 3 swag. the pipboy cost me nearly 120.00 x.x I even got the UK preorder statue of a suit of BOS power armor. I have a spare art book around here too. I heard the PS3 version of F3 was buggy, the xbox works okay. I was annoyed at having to get the GOTY edition to get mothership zeta though. We need fallout action figures. What i want is some of the art from BOS for the ps2/xbox but i never see it anywhere.
Did you hear bethesda broke all the contracts they got when they bought the franchise? rumor has it that this left the original company even deeper as they had to pay for it. Bethesda forced the cancellation of the fallout tabletop RPG game and a few other projects. I think they also did such a good job on 3 because they knew they alienated alot of the fans because of how they treated the other company.

Oh, man. The Mothership Zeta was such a fun add-on. Not as good as Point Lookout, but the environment, atmosphere and sheer craziness is very fitting. I thought it would be something that would make the game feel totally out of place, but it did a good job at setting things up.

I mean, those recordings.... WOW.

In regards to Bethesda, I recall them suing Interplay because they released three of their Fallout games and dubbed it the Fallout Trilogy. Bethesda sued them because they thought Interplay was trying to fool players into thinking that it contained Fallout 3 since it was called the trilogy pack when it specifically listed Fallout: Tactics. Thankfully the judge threw the case out.

You can get the originals GOG.com and they run fine on Vista and win 7 as far as I know.

Oh Fallout fan but I only discovered them through F3. I'm stoked as heck about New Vegas!

I loved Fallout 1 and 2. I even like to think I was partially responsible for one addition to Fallout 2 -- namely the upgraded leather armor. I used to post on the Black Isle boards after Fallout 1 came out and I remarked that the black leather armor was so cool (because it WAS Mad Max), but that leather armor just sucked in the game and it would be great if you could have a random encounter where you find, like, some suped-up leather armor. Apparently, they ran with the concept because Fallout 2 had the improved leather armor that still retained the outward Mad Max appearance. I was pleased.

I have downloaded, but have not played the Fallout 3 GOTY edition. I plan to eventually, but I'm a little wary because of the issues I've heard it has with Win7 and multi-core processors. We'll see.

Black Isle was better at listening to fans than anyone so far. Now that i have an xbox i just get everything for it since its better than a PC.

I nearly got that trilogy pack at walmart but it got yanked. Blask isle/interplay and bethesda were never on good terms i don't think. They should just hire the entire original creative team to make fallout games. Maybe in fallout 4 they'll take you back to the original game locations to see whta they are like 100 years later. I got a british version of the fallout trilogy set from the UK though and its part of my fallout display lol. I do miss the random encounters like running into Dr Who or the monty python skits. I have a 5 cd set of nuclear war/cold war songs they could use called "Atomic Platters" since they took the idea of inappropriate music for nuclear wars from Dr. Strangelove (great movie for folks to go see).

Replaying Fallout 3 recently I'm kind of liking The Pitt more and more. I just wish you could explore more of the area. Broken Steel was probably my favorite. Liberty Prime is just one of the most awesome robots in gaming. "Death is a preferable alternative to Communism." Oh and throwing nukes like footballs, that is absolutely awesome!

I actually never played Fallout 1 or 2 before I played 3. I have no idea why I didn't get them when they came out. I got them from gog.com and they were pretty fun, though I didn't like them as much as 3. Fallout 2 was definitely my favorite. It wasn't the 3rd person perspective, I just didn't feel as immersed in the environment as Fallout 3.

It will be interesting to see if New Vegas has the same amount of stuff to do as Fallout 3.

Fallout 1 and 2 were old school games. I remember back in 1997 seeing the first one in a magazine but you could never find it. I found both in a 2 pack at walmart back in 2001 and then i got tactics for 20.00 when gamestop was better. New Vegas should have tons to do and i'm betting they'll give you alot more DLC stuff too. The first fallouts had more dark humor to them like in 2 when you can free those Deathclaws for the Deathclaw liberation front and they eat the hippies you're helping or the end of the first one when you kill the Overseer by blowing him in half. I wish that they'd let Interplay make their version of fallout 3 as an expansion or something. It told the entire story of Harold.

I have my preorder for NewVegas and a day off work to get started. I played FO3 for around 120 hours and never even fifnished the main story. I did not get any of the add ons because of the rabbit hole I had just climbed out of.

They said there is enough to do exploring the wastelands in NV that you don't even actually have to do the main game but i doubt that. I want to know if New Vegas is the same place as new Reno. I doubt it as NV has electricity from hoover dam still. I never did find all the audio tapes in the mothership. I wish you'd find more stuff like the crashed plane in the swamp that tells more personal stories or a journal from someone who ssurvived the war. I'm big on back stories in stuff like this.
The ultimate Fallout game would start at the end of the war with china, you survive a few battles during the war and return home and start to adjust (seeing how the world was then and it gives you a chance to customize your character) and then the bombs fall and you have to survive the collapse of the world and then the first appearances of mutations. If you get exposed to too much radiation or FEV you mutate at various levels from extra body parts (could be a source of comedy) to turning into a super mutant. How the game ends depends on how you live in the game. Neutral would give you a good ending, evil would find you dying somehow, and if you're super good you can sneak into a vault somehow and become related to one of the characters in the original games.

I've got the Fallout New Vegas Collector edition preordered from Amazon. I've played all the versions when they first came out except the Brotherhood one which really wasn't a RPG.

I'm on the fence about Brotherhood. I always refer to it as an alternate universe version of fallout the same way Tactics is.

Wait, I thought Tactics was at least semi-canon like Van Buren only more so.

I'm trying to remember the specific examples but I know Tactics got several shout outs in F3, the least of which was not the Enclave Advanced Power Armor Mk 2's new look.
