Fallout New Vegas: NCR Veteran Ranger Finished! pg 8

looks awesome. to be honest it looks exactly like the original render of the picture. only thing i could suggest would be to add some orange LED's to the eyes.

yeah i want to replace my eyes, i'm having trouble deciding between painted red/orange punched steel mesh, or reflective red mirrored visor cut up from a motor cyle helmet, but i cannot find one with the red polarized effect (like cyclops' shades from the xmen movies)

i dunno from what i gather from the renders of the game it looks more like the artist was trying to portray a light, kinda like, an orange version of nightvision.

I've done some gaming concept art over the years lol.. thats just what i get from the renders.

you could try EL sheets or wire too, lots of ways to get that effects. LEDs are cheap though, just scuff the edges of the lens a bit so it lights up thicker.

Check out A New Hope Darth Vader lenses, they were red. That's my plan.

How wide are the belt buckles you used? I found the silver ones in 1-1/4" wide.

You could go for what you feel is the best fit for the costume, rather than copy me directly on it ;)
i'm not sure what size i used, honestly, but i just picked some buckles that looked right to me, i didn't research them specifically.
so i doubt you'll go wrong so long as you follow your own aesthetic choices

Well, i started with the armor, and took it from there.
my whole build process is covered in the first 8 pages of this thread.
the best way? everyone kind of has their own way of doing things, so i'm not really sure what you mean by all that.

Having never done anything like this before, what would be the best way to get started on masks and armor?
I made myself some templates and traced them out onto the foam, then used an x-acto blade and cut them out. Then I used 230 grit sandpaper to sand the edges and to round them out.

Okay, cool. I guess it's just how detailed the end product is that it makes the whole project look daunting and impossible for someone with my amount of skill.

From what material you made chest and head armor?did you buy coat and if you made to give plz dimension of it???? thx and sry for my bad english:))))))

If you go back and check out the first page of the thread you'll see :)
Chest is foam rubber mats cut and formed
head I believe was pep'd and then fiberglassed
But like I said it's all on the first 8 pages of the thread :)

Forgot to mention this is Kommissar's thread

it's all good. thanks for answering those questions,
oh and saying this is my thread isn't really necessary, though i appreciate the sentiment.
i doubt anyone can claim its theirs when my names on the first post :D

I've been wanting to do one of these for as long as the game has been out, but I wonder if it is a good idea to use a regular jacket as a template for the duster or should I hire someone else to do the sewing? I ask this because I have no previous experience at sewing and I have no idea were to begin in the sewing process (not mention that I live in the middle of nowhere and that my resources are limited).
