Hey all! As the title suggest, this is the NCR veteran ranger helmet from Fallout: New Vegas. The plan is to make a foam mask, and a pep/resin/bondo hard helmet. The small details on the side of the helmet will also likely be pep/resin/bondo.

Here is the pep file I will be using for the helmet and accessories.

Also, here is a foam edit I did for the mask which is intended to be used as templates for 6-8mm EVA foam.

On to the build!

Here are some progress shots of the foam mask.

The front part thingy (if anyone knows the official term, lemme know :))

More to come, Need to add top strap, respirator on the left cheek and velcro the back strap to fit.

Looking very good so far, I am currently working on a pep/resin/bondo version of this. I am on the bondo stage for the mask, the helmet is still card stock but ill get to it. This is my first build so slow and steady for me lol.

Is it easier to build this out of foam?

The front respirator is a little flat, and you might want to have some vents up front to allow airflow or the lenses fog up something fierce.

Nice work so far. The second link isn't working though.

Link is fixed!

It depends on your skills and what you favor; foam can be made fast but you lose detail, pep has higher detail, but takes longer and requires more steps for finishing like hardening and shaping. I pick either pep or foam depending on the shape and it's complexity.

Since I posted this, (which was almost 6 months ago) I have made some changes and completely removed the front piece. When I do return to this, (likely summer term) I will address all of it's problems but I have also been thinking of remaking it out of styrene as I have become comfortable using this material and overall, I feel it will have the best outcome based on my skills.
