Fallout Glowing One ghoul WIP

Re: Dead Space necromorph sculpt UPdated, need help

His bottom lip is rather exaggerated now that you mention it.
I've seen Backyard FX make some pretty convincing gore out of toilet paper and liquid latex IIRC

Re: Dead Space necromorph sculpt UPdated, need help

Yeah i was going to work the lower jaw and the back of the head area once i got the main part cast or at least cured. I was going to have it as a multi part kit. Part of it is when the Leaper forms it's neck seems to change shape so that it actually hooks to the back of the skull so it can look forward while crawling around.

Re: Dead Space necromorph sculpt UPdated, need help

Just going by the top pic in the first post, it looks like regular dude's head for the face, but splits back towards the base of the skull.

I think that might be what's throwing you off. You started out trying to sculpt a generic person's face that happens to be on top of a monster, instead of working backwards from a modified mannequins head or face cast in order to add the bone details and pincers, etc.

It looks pretty cool, but it seems like you took the long way around for the project and that might be why it doesn't seem to "click" too well with ya.

Again, just my .02 and god knows I can't sculpt worth crap myself.

Chris

I was thinking of that. I have a mannequin head that i can always work with. I am seriously thinking this guy needs to turn into a ghoul lol.

Re: Necromorph and Fallout Ghoul sculptures.

Okay I started reworking the sculpt into a Ghoul from Fallout inspired by these.

I've added patches of skin that look like the areas around it have flaked off as well as some areas that look like cancerous tumors. Not really shown in the game but they only have like 3 ghouls they modeled and they just throw different outfits on them.

I need to rework the nostrils for sure.

Fallout Ghoul sculpture

Pretty much done, until i can mold it, ghoul. I have to fill the cracks with something, I'm thinking epoxy so that it will seep under and bond the sculpty to the skull but still leave the indent of the crack. Then i have to safely store it until i can get RTV. It looks better up close. I kind of like the burn damage and that'll come through in the casting too. I have a bit more sculpty to use on projects then it's on to oil based clay. It sure won't win any awards but for a first try i think i did okay. I learned a lot that's for sure.

Re: Necromorph and Fallout Ghoul sculptures.

You should do Harold from fallout 1-2 with Herbert (Bob) growing out of his skull.

Re: Necromorph and Fallout Ghoul sculptures.

lol I was thinking of that. I have one more skull with an intact jaw i have to reattach. Ghouls are much easier than Necromorphs as you can go wild with everything. I now know to texture the top layers of skin before I put them on the skull.

Re: Necromorph and Fallout Ghoul sculptures.

I've been slacking and still haven't fixed the cracks in the thing. Then i need to find somewhere safe to pack him away until molding time.

Re: Necromorph and Fallout Ghoul sculptures.

dude, nice iv talked with you befour and congratulated you on your work, looks good so far still needs a lot of work but what iv seen in the past its gunna turn out great!

Re: Necromorph and Fallout Ghoul sculptures.

I think once work on the cracks it'll look better. I'm not sure if i'm going to fill them totally or seal them so no mold material can get into them as i think they'd make it more interesting once it's cast.

Re: Necromorph and Fallout Ghoul sculptures.

Minor update. I covered him with resin to seal the cracks while i was coating the inside of the armor helmet and it gave it a really nice shine that makes it seem slimy. Hopefully this is enough to keep it from breaking when i put it into storage.

Here he is sealed with fiberglass resin filling the cracks that formed and actually look like badly healed wounds. I'm not sure if i should add a few more staples to the wound or not. I didn't glue them in since i will pull them out when i cast and reinstall them. They're generic large sized 1/4" (?) staples.

Re: Necromorph and Fallout Ghoul sculptures.

He's currently upside down in a box waiting for me to mix a tiny batch of resin to seal the underside lol. I was going to paint him to see but i think i'll wait until i cast him and pay someone to do it who has skills. Plus i still want to mount one or two of these on sticks like they've been impaled.

Re: Necromorph and Fallout Ghoul sculptures.

This will probably sound sill, but it reminds me of those shrunken head trophies from diablo 2.

Hey there's an idea?!

Re: Necromorph and Fallout Ghoul sculptures.

Wow he's suddenly getting a lot of attention lol. I sealed him with fiberglass resin to make sure it doesn't come apart. Gave it a nice slimey look too. I was going to try this new molding material but it melts at 130 degrees so you can reuse it and with this being so big i can only imagine bad things so i have to save up for normal RTV and see if i can sell a few casts. I'm worried about getting a good casting of the flesh hanging from the side of the face as it's thin and might be hard to get into the mold. I may do those separately.

Re: Necromorph and Fallout Ghoul sculptures.

I'm going to make a mold soon that way i can spray paint the original the neon green i have and somehow wire my t51 helmet to shine light on him like he's glowing.
