FABRICATING a real IRONMAN suit out of STEEL.

please tell me you are a human being :lol just kidding man. . .this is out of this world :thumbsup

great stuff :)

Hahaha I am very much human. Lol thank you though, I just like to tinker with stuff and push my limits. It's taken years for me to learn to work with metal the way that I do. All it takes is a good imagination, experience, patience, a good cup of coffee and some adderall haha

sick stuff man. siiiiiick.
when you're done youre gonna be among the few who can get that authentic "clang" when your faceplate slams shut...

Ahh no worries man. Life first everything else second. My build has slowed to a halt due to weather and funds. This year temps have gotten to an average of -20°+ wind chill, then my car died so i had to get another so to bide my time i've read Arduino for dummies and now i'm onthe Arduino cookbook 2nd edition. I will resume my build when it's time to wear shorts lol. I'm guessing 10°c. But i keep watching this one for updates...GM

This helmet look mighty good for sure and looking impatiently for your next pics; this is going to rock big time:cool

Well here you are folks. Put some good time in on my helmet tonight and got the rest of the heavy fab work done on it. I'm very pleased with how the over all structure came out, and how symmetrical I was able to keep it. I would have to say that the hardest part was finding was to keep the damn thing still while I was working on it considering it's basically a big round metal ball lol.

As for now, all I have to do is finish up with the various small pieces that are left and then comes the fun part of welding and making all those little pieces become one sold steel helmet! I'm really looking forward to taking the next step of designing and installing all the mechanisms and "tricks" I have up my sleeve to make this thing as real as possible. I'm inching my way closer to that signature "clang" sound when this baby slams shut!

Thanks for the kind words, support, and patience everyone! Let me know what ya all think of it so far!

*drool* haha can't wait to see what sorta things you'll put into it.

one question! how much does it weigh currently?

Stunning! And here I am struggling with cardstock!

I used water color paper instead of card stock on my pep helmet. I had to help it through the printer, but it was extremely rigid and easy to work with. I havent even put resin on it yet and I built half my steel helmet around the pep model.

I'm actually not sure how much it weighs, but I would imagine that it will be like wearing a goofball helmet once it's done. At the moment it's really not as heavy as it looks. It's all 16 and 18 gauge steel. Thin but really strong.

Lol well thanks for keeping an eye on my progress. I'm so tired of the cold and snow and so is my bank account from paying the heating bull in my shop. But I look forward to seeing what you'll start putting together after this stupid weather breaks. Thanks for the support!

That's probably what I'm looking forward to the most haha. I'm like a fat kid with a cupcake when it comes to stuff like that.. The first "clang" of my helmet is going to make me giggle like a school girl Hahaha

Did a little more work last night on the face mask part of the helmet and started putting the tiny edge pieces around the eyes and getting all the little detail pieces put on. I will be ready to start welding and smoothing everything soon! Meanwhile, I plan to start building a real working electro magnet arc reactor for fun and also make the parts for my suits arc reactor. I would love to hear any input you all have!

By " working electro magnet arc reactor " Do you mean a prop that doubles as an electromagnet, or attempting to build the self-sustaining power source itself?

Haha just a prop that doubles as a magnet. The idea is already there to make it a working magnet, so I think it would be cool to see an arc reactor that actually will be come magnetic when power is applied. Just a fun little side project to mess with.

Amazing work! love it!

But if I may ask. What kind of equipment are you using for making all the curves and such? Do you also make use of a "english wheel"

You have given a amazing example what can be done effort and hard work.

Could you please tell me what kind of tools you're using for this build?

keep it up!
